Syd. my mother died of cancer, I have a direct debit, have had for many years, to cancer research, I never miss a charity box in whatever town I am in throughout europe, I collect books from fellow contractors, bring them back to the uk, and share them among, the British Heart foundation, Cancer Research, Doctor Bernardos,
Scope, and the Arthritis foundation. when my uncle died, all of the contents of the house, of which there were many, and of very good quality, were distributed between these charitys, with the exception of clothes, which were taken to the salvation army, under the terms of the will and the wishes of uncle bob and aunt kit. A standing order of which I have four, and my wife three, is only £28 per month, four quid per, and in my eyes, only a drink. so keep up your efforts , good causes always need a champion if you like. A standing order costs nowt to set up, £2 per month over the year, is only nine pints at best, or four packets of ***s, and I use both. so a no brainer realy............nice one Syd.

Glad we are getting some good money in for a good cause Syd ... well done again for organising this! <ok>

Agree totally Bill. There are alot of good causes out there where we can make a big difference for a small amount. I contribute to Cancer Research even though i've never lost anybody to it and the British Heart Foundation too (this is my family's risk, I lost both my parents within 6 months of each other when I was in my 20's and all my grandparents died from heart disease as well). Everybody will loose loved ones to one or the other so it is so important to do something about it.

Child sponsorships are good also. I sponsor a kid in Uganda, £13/mth and it has totally transformed her life ... the price of a dvd for flips sake. Another kid in the Dominican Republic gets an education for £5/mth. I'd piss that away in ten minutes down the pub on a friday night.

So keep up the good work people!

Me too fella. Just read through it and sometimes it takes something like this to put everthing into perspective and make us all realise that were all the same apart from the shirt on our backs... Simples.
Chin up fella you have a big family here.
    Take care.
