Canada has a chance on Tuesday to reach the hexagonal...they merely need to beat already-eliminated El Salvador at home, have already-qualified Mexico beat Honduras (in the vaunted Estadio Azteca), and gain +6 in goal differential along the way.

They will instead lose 3-0.

As I have a 100% record of success thus far in doing match threads for England, (well it turned out that way, I claim the rights to do the next one, but if anyone on this board wants to usurp me from my position I will be happy to be compensated with a bottle of Hampshire's finest white.

Every time we churn out yet another poor performance there are always people who trot out the same "a win is a win" or "it doesn't matter about how we get out of the group as long as we get out". Then we arrive at the tournament proper and as we sink into oblivion performances suddenly are important. We've seen this so many times and people still believe it will get better. Big Sam may get them to perform better (and I do really hope he does), but at the moment they are still ****e.

Big Sam is taking over a team that hasn't been properly managed in years, I will give him until the end of the World Cup before I castigate the team and any relation of theirs.

The pitch wasn't good, and we looked a lot more cohesive than we did in the championships. We grew into the game, enjoy the misery of a win.

Sam was reported to say the pitch was good, though a little firm....

This isn't about Sam or the result really. It just showed me once again that our players really aren't as good as some media and fans make them out to be. The basics really were pretty average at times and we seemed to not make the right decisions at the right times on the pitch, struggling to break down another average team.

Our problems are so much deeper than the manager and the squad.

The problem is basic lack of intelligence that the average English footballer possesses between his ears!!!!

100%. Rose is behind shaw and Bertrand for me.

Our midfield is just so pedestrian. No one in our side is capable of creating anything. Rooney is dropping back to play at DM for some reason, meaning Kane is on his own.
I'd probably bring Vardy on for Rooney and go 4-4-2 personally. Slovakia aren't in this game at all.

I agree about an extra man up top but would probably take Henderson off rather than Rooney.

I simply don't see what Henderson offers to this team.

Or change from the 4-3-3 which isn't working.

I can't believe no-one thought of playing a diamond.

Me too - maybe he can even become an ex saint that I would like to see do well.

Even if his beard is still a bit... Well you know.
So do I, but then in every advert break we saw his smug face in that ****ing Nivea advert, so that brought me back to reality.

I never really saw any clowns when I was a kid so didn't have any problems with them, and was surprised so many kids do. Now I'm older I've realised they are actually incredibly creepy. Look at the state of that guy, stuff of nightmares.
