Reading between the lines on his 'bare bones' comment were probably not gonna have a recognised RB available. Wouldn't name them cos they 'might be fit' is an interesting line though.
coyle, darlow, jones, mcloughlin, greaves, seri, tufan, oscar, connolly, tetteh, christie, longman, slater and pelkas
I can't see anyone being risked at this point in the season. Rosie confirmed Adama will start, Tufan did the presser so he should be okay too. Pelkas, Elder, and Allahyar were at the bowling event so you'd imagine they are too. I do hope Ebiowei doesn't start though as I don't think he should after his lack of desire/interest against Millwall. He's talked up young Vaughan a few times so if he gets the nod, it'll be well deserved.
Guessing Simmons might get a start, then there's Doc, so we at least have a team of midfielders. I actually enjoyed watching floating, rotating strikers but not a striker thing we did at Sunderland...
Traore, Tufan, Ali and Pelkas start in the quadruple false 9 position for me. Slater and Seri Elder, Macca, Jones and Coyle if available also. Got a funny feeling we might win this one, so we'll probably lose.
Slater and Seri will be deep lying as long as they're fit. Longman seems unlikely to be available and it's hard to justify Ebiowei over Pelkas so the 4 in front pick themselves for me.
I did too, I think it's because we had all our technical players on the pitch and it's all very fluid. Big centre halves won't like coming up against the likes of Adama/Tufan. I really like Tufan in the false 9, we need to get him involved more but he always looks dangerous.
Presumably we'll go with Greaves at LB and Figs or even Elder at RB. The only other professional RB at the club is Louis Chorlton and he's nowhere near ready. In fact he's probably going to leave in Summer. So that would leave Anthony Onoh (OH YES), who at 17 would get...what does Vern call it? Dry bummed? Yeah, that, by the three teams we come up against next week.
Can't see them using Nixon when he'll probably get released in the next few weeks. If Coyle's out, there's still plenty of options. You could play Elder at RB, switch to a back 3 with Elder and Allahyar as wingbacks. I'm sure Simons would do a solid job at RB too
Malcolm Ebiowei to drop back to right fullback. Find his natural position. Become an unplayable overlapping right wingback. Oust Kyle Walker, Kieran Trippier et al from the national team. Lead England to World Cup glory in 2026. You heard it here first. Lump on.
Docherty has played previously at emergency RB, not particularly successfully though. Besides Coyle and Longman, I'd also worry about Darlow and McLoughlin since they were two who got knocks againsty Millwall.
He's been playing the last few games with pain killing injections, maybe he'll just keep ploughing on.
