Interestingly, injuries have been our Achilles heel... but I dont think anyone has been out with an achilles injury... maybe better to say that injuries have hamstrung our season... we have had a few of those.
With 18 clubs in the Primeira League compared to 20 in the PL and 24 in Championship and plus having FA Cup and League Cup they don’t.
I notice that both Bristol City and Rotherham are complaining about persistent injuries. I wonder if the problem is more widespread.
The only thing that stopped KR and FC dominating SuperLeague was their injury problems which other clubs didn’t have according to some.
Maybe not all but the big teams do because they always go further than city in the cups and add to that national teams games.
Apparently our next opponents Coventry are also having problems with injuries… they still seem to be on a good run though
Two weeks back I watched them on the early kick off game against Sunderland - they were very good, really solid defensively and in Gyökeres they have a forward who's a nightmare to play against, he never stopped harrying and running down Mackem defenders for the full 90 miniutes - took his goal well too. We'll have to be right at it to get anything from this game.
You're bang on regarding intensity. The WC condensing games doesn't help either. I think for us, the pre-season wasn't up to scratch, the players weren't fit enough as Rosie mentioned a fair bit when he came and we had plenty of players who didn't have a full pre season
7 players out is bad, but we've had at least that many out for almost every game this season, and it peaked at about 13 in the autumn. The last couple of games it's been down to 4-5 players and that's the lowest it's been all season. I really do think it's under-reported just how extreme our injury situation has been this season. I think it's part of the Hull mindset that we play ourselves and our own problems down a bit.
After Shota left the bad luck with injuries ended immediately, it's only started up again since around the New Year/December I think.
