Actually I think the average number of points Fulham is likely to get in those last four matches is something like 4/5. Which also shows that if we lose, they will be two points behind, which means that we could get two draws or a win in our last four matches (possible! Difficult, but still possible) and stay up. Now that really would make for an unpleasant last four games... But it just goes to show it won't be over until it's over (or we win on Saturday!)

i like your optimism Rob. if you look at run-rates, then 4 or 5 is a sensible suggestion. but this goes out of the window imo near the end of the season. back -to - back wins (if they beat us), the team playing better - I'd expect them to beat both Hull and Palace at home as a min. both hull and palace are safe which will help them
but part of me is reassured knowing that the pressure is even bigger on them and even a loss means it is still in our hands.
True - I'm not being optimistic though. I'm more playing devil's advocate. Trust me, if we lose, I think it's very likely we'll go down. I'm just saying it's not completely over. Back-to-back wins doesn't by any stretch guarantee more. They then face Tottenham away and could get battered. It goes without saying that Hull and Palace will be much easier than our games, but neither of these teams are mugs and the game against Palace is a derby of sorts. I certainly don't "expect" Fulham to beat both (they are too poor a team) - I expect them to beat at least one though.
isn't it odd. if chris hughton had said that fulham is not 'must win' he'd have been attacked by the fans for being negative or whatever else. neil adams says it and it's fine. funny how a change of manager can bring about a change in mentality of supporters, even when put in the same scenario as before. for what its worth, i think its a 'must not lose' game. we are more than capable of taking a point or more from those two remaining home games and i agree that fulham won't take more than 5 points from their remaining four games. despite the defeat to west brom, we are still a tough cookie to beat on home soil.
I think you're just looking for ways to connect to Hughton there supers. I don't think many people really form their opinions on the sound bites they hear. It's about the football and clearly Hughton was a negative tactician who put more emphasis on not conceeding than scoring. that's why the fans were calling him negative, not because he might have said this or that.
we've had two years of people moaning about his press conferences, interviews, demeanour and god knows what else. basically anything that could be used to beat him with would be jumped on - that is my point. had he said the above he'd have been lambasted for not saying a win is essential and to even entertain the fact a loss would not be the end of the world would have brought pandemonium to some. as it happens i agree with adams (as i basically said earlier). i have no connection to hughton - i never got attached to him in any way, i just thought he was doing a better job than many believed and hated the abuse he got. even i had reached the point where i wanted him to go in the summer.
I actually liked Hughton when he was first hired. It was refreshing to have a manager that you could understand when he speaks. He also seemed like a really charming bloke. Even after leaving the club he is saying nice things about NCFC like how proud he was to be a manager of such a great club. Top bloke, but unfortunately it just didn't work out for him. The playing style was dull, predictable and his substitutions were best described as odd. When he lost the home form and our away form was appalling then his game was up. Nice guy, but I've know a lot of people from all walks of life inside business and outside. I would say nice guys are not suited to every situation and in some situations they finish last. This I believe they is one of those occasions where he did not have the bite needed.
I remember saying on here somewhere that at the time, my first choice was Laudrup and my second choice was Hughton. Swansea got Laudrup, so I can't say I was disappointed with us getting Hughton.
I personally think we will get a win and a draw at home and lose all the other games, we never win in London and rarely win away from home .
Adams interviews ooze the confidence of someone at total ease with the media, clearly due to his involvement in it for so long. He shows a good level of steel you don't imagine him taking much **** from the players having spoken several times about discipline. Given that he's seen recent events pan out from a relative close position, I wonder if he feels that was an issue with Hughton's leadership.
