There is a growing suggestion that our owners know exactly what they are doing. They knew their would be an uproar so let it out early, let the louder fans scream and yell, then withdraw the support. After a day or two, the reality sets in. By the time our owners land on Sunday, they know that about 80% of the fans would be behind the changes. They will agree to a compromise , such as the bluebird being put on the back of the shirt next to the Welsh flag, and then they will push ahead with their plans. I had been very skeptical of this idea, but there does seem to be some credence to it. The supporters group have backed down. The forums have really turned around. Even AAMB want the owners to stay. People distancing themselves from the disgraceful comments. Steve Borley suggesting maybe just maybe there is hope. and then this article in the paper: http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footba...1466-30943833/#sitelife-commentsWidget-bottom I just wonder if our owners have played this game far better than some of the loudmouths anticipated?
All teams have two kits which they use roughly half the time, aka the home kit and away kit. A way of softly introducing this could be to have a "second" kit instead of an "away" kit. Instead of usually playing in blue at home and usually playing in red away, use them roughly equally at both venues. Having different crests on each shirt would be unusual I admit, but if that's the price for selling a million shirts in Malaysia, I think there might just be enough support for the idea for it to go through.
Not beyond the realms of possibility Siam but a bit of a stretch. Amazing how many of the most ardent anti-reds are now reconsidering their position in the cool light of dawn - and the risk of completely losing our backers - and the implications of that both on and off the field. If the Malaysians didn't intentionally adopt the Machivellian tactics you suggest then their only error was not consulting main fan groups before going public. If support had been gained up front then a lot of the adverse reaction would have melted away. Hey ho, another day, more twists and turns in the real life sporting soap that is Cardiff City!!!!
I agree it is a stretch Blue. The turn around today has been amazing however. So if they didn't mean it, we may get lucky and that's how it turns out. But I have seen a guy who yesterday was swearing at everyone as a judas and a traitor post an apology today!! Happening all over the place. I just started to think that VT and TG would be savvy enough to plan this.......maybe a stretch
I guess that makes the Season Review DVD and kind of Sunday Omnibus Siam: I don't believe it for one second. Which conspiracy theorist initially put this suggestion out there and more to the point where?
Yeah, Blue....and we will never know anyway. But starting to feel a bit better today. I think the worst of it is over and when TG comes on Sunday he will be received very well, and hopefully understand what a lot of people want to do, which is simply know exactly what is happening and rationally discuss proposed changes. Mind you as another post so eloquently put on another board; "Does Roman ask Chelsea fans what they want? **** off he does lol
BfB The way I read it was that was their intention, after the next board meeting. However a mole spoilt things and it was on message boards & facebook before the finer details were in place. The rest as they say is history.
Let's look at it this way. There was going to a march of angry protesters demanding no changes and god knows how ugly it would have been. After the letter from TG yesterday there is now going to be a group of people holding flowers awaiting him At least this opens the way for a far more pleasant atmosphere that hopefully will get things back on track!
And repeats on C4 +1 an hour later. Looking forward to BPF tomorrow if only to get all this out of my head for a few hours - and looking forward to the young ladies in Hooters of course.
yep me too...especially the pleasant surroundings that only Hooters can provide I'm home alone today so I'm having a Pink Floyd day to get in the mood
i agree, quite a few clubs like chelsea and spurs have new badges than their traditional ones, and perhaps for the time being that could be a solution.
A few lines from Jugband Blues that just slapped me in the face "And I'm grateful that you threw away my old shoes And brought me here instead dressed in red" so much for my Pink Floyd distraction
.....wearing red shirts and carrying red dragons. Regarding the leak, it's interesting that the souce hasn't been outed. Was it a deliberate leak? This all seems to have happened very swiftly, from leak to withdrawal to vist! There may be mileage in this having been stage managed. It may be a case of 'shock and awe' as opposed to winning 'hearts and minds'. I hope that IS the case as the alternative could be tragic.
The reaction was whilst understandable OTT and perhaps in hindsight rather than be so vocal and thereby encouraging internet warriors to vent their spleen, the protest should have been more measured. I tend to feel the Malaysians knew full well this would cause some upset but did not gauge the extent of it. I find it untenable the Malaysians will just walk away when there is £40m of of their monery in the club. Nobody becomes a billionaire without rubbing some people up the wrong way; not all the people can be pleased all the time. This is a stage by stage situation. Time will tell. In hindisght the voice of protest should have thought hard before potentialy biting the hand that feeds. ps. On the Pink Floyd theme, going to see Brit Floyd tomorrow at CIA
