Prognosis is ... no-one knows, let's wait and see. Possibly try steroids in 3 months time. Might get better, might get worse.
Had the Occupational Therapy lady round this morning- they'll put up rails and give me things to help get into the bath and stand up from the bed and stuff. Hell's bell's I'm ONLY 57!!!
Sorry to moan on your birthday, H, but it does help to get it of my chest and you guys have been so supportive.

Oh and I've just realised that Saturday's game kicks off at 5.15 so I'll only be able to watch the first half on TV because someone is going to come and drag me out to do a gig, the only one I committed to this month. I must have done something really bad in a previous life. :emoticon-0106-cryin

OT have been very quick to respond once I was referred. Also the CAB have been brilliant helping me make a claim for Disability Living Allowance and to pursue my appeal against the decision to stop my Employment Support Allowance. Also the Macmillan Haematology unit at MK hospital were brilliant last year, as was the hospital in general. My GP is brilliant.
So why do people knock the NHS???

I have mentioned that I'd be up for a holiday in New England if Harvard want to see me!

Afternoon all, A glorious day here as well, although I have been under the weather today with a streaming head cold. :( Not sure where that came from, but I don't want it, so have been trying out various forms of treatment, mainly with a red wine content. ;)

Decided to take a day off the works and found out a few things about our hamlet by consulting the on-line archive service. 4 million pages of info have been uploaded. Napoleon ordered that maps should be drawn up showing all the dwellings and fields so that everyone could have some land of their own to feed themselves. A number of dwellings in our hamlet have disappeared since the map was made in 1832 and some new ones have been built. Ours is there, but strangely non of the others owned by Brits are shown.

Moving on to the 1901 census, I find that the population in this small place was 69, whereas today it is 18 plus two small children. I am not at all sure what the living conditions were like, but some of the cottages would have been very cramped. You also see the lanes that still exist today, but forget that none of the roads were surfaced.

Only another 3,999,983 pages to go before I start to write a Hamlet History with French-English text and explanation. <doh>

Quick post before I go out at 6 for dinner and then see "Senna" which is showing at the Opera House as part of the Branchage Film Festival.

Just had 2nd day of my tax course - who ever came up with the phrase "tax doesn't have to be taxing" for the HMRC ad never studied it. I have never known a teacher/lecturer/tutor say "we'll cover that later" so many times in 2 days. Thankfully it's not just us students that find it frustrating, she also does.

I am quite happy to admit that I do not like Rats. It all goes back to childhood when we lived next to a timber yard and I used to watch them walking as bold as brass across our garden to the chicken house. Horrible great big black ones the size of a cat. My father used to have a cage trap which was very successful at catching them, but having caught them it was a matter of disposal, and I won't go into his method as it wasn't pleasant.

We have an outbuilding where we store our bikes and while our daughter was with us she wanted to go for a ride around the countryside. Going into our small building I am just in time to see a rat disappearing into the house wall, and there is a large heap of mud that it has pulled out of the wall. Many walls in rural parts are made with stone on the outside with an infill of mud. Searching around I cannot see where it got in. Mentioning it to Josiane she immediately wants to get involved and offers use of her trap, a double size mouse trap that you load with a piece of cheese. Hanging from one end is a piece of cord that you tie to something to stop the creature taking the trap down it's burrow if there is not a quick kill.

Seeing my look of dismay she says that she will dispose of the corpse when we catch it by throwing it into the hedge. I really feel that there are country ways that I have not come to terms with yet, and she thinks it odd that I should dislike a small animal so much.

After two days with a very tasty piece of the finest hard French cheese that should get it's nose all of a twitch it has not put in an appearance, so over the weekend the hole that it did a runner to will be cemented up very firmly.
