I can see why they arent happy, but them striking is not going to help much. They need to survive in the league or else they dont stand a chance of surviving. Loosing first team players will not help this cause!! However, i do wish them luck and hope they manage to turn it all around.

    From mbl.is

    Iceland blood the Belgians noses

The stubborn Icelandic U21 team beat the Belgians at Valsvellinum tonight and managed to score in the last minutes to ensure a 2:1 victory when the teams met in the first game qualifier EM2012.

Iceland scored a deserved goal when Björn Bergmann Sigurðarson, working well after a strong pass Bjorn Daniel Sverrisson, scored in the 25th minute. But the effort turned in Belgium, they were harder and Guillaume Francois responded on 42nd minute when the Icelandic defence fell asleep, only at a price. Belgium were much stronger immediately after the goal and continued so after a break, had two very good moves, but failed to get a shot at goal.

Only one Icelandic player, Björn Bergmann, played with the U21 team that played in finals in Denmark in June, but more were in the squad so that the KSÍ needs to build a new team.

Ísland hirti öll stigin fyrir fram nefið á Belgum

Þrátt fyrir að legið hafi á Íslenska U21 liðinu gegn Belgum á Valsvellinum í kvöld tókst því að skora á lokamínútunni og tryggja sér 2:1 sigur þegar liðin áttust við í fyrsta leik undankeppni EM2012.

Ísland skoraði verðskuldað mark þegar Björn Bergmann Sigurðarson vann vel úr góðri sendingu Björns Daníels Sverrissonar og skoraði á 25. mínútu. Markið kveikti í Belgum, þeir sóttu af meiri krafti og uppskáru mark Guillaume Francois á 42. mínútu þegar vörn Íslands sofnaði aðeins á verðinum. Belgar voru mun sterkari strax eftir mark sitt og héldu því áfram eftir hlé, áttu tvær mjög þungar sóknir en tókst ekki að koma skoti á markið.

Aðeins einn íslenskur leikmaður, Björn Bergmann, lék með U21 liðinu sem lék í úrslitakeppninni í Danmörk í júní, þó fleiri hafi verið í hópnum svo að það þarf að byggja uppá nýtt.

Trouble with him scoring is it will attract more interest from clubs dripping in cash - I heard his name mentioned on the radio over the summer by an agent...

Michael Foot, the old Labour leader, was a great fan of the Pilgrims. Friends of ours have a wonderful black and white photo of three generations of the Foot family watching Argyle.

Bright and sunny day here. ;) Run out of timber again so off to get fresh supplies today. Looking forward to lunch if not the shopping bit:(

A friend popped round last night, we are friends despite his being a Derby fan. He is looking forward to the rugby world cup and was wondering what time of the day or night they would be playing the games. I was of little help to him.

Thanks for coffee Ak - morning Frenchie - I've been doing jobs too - the non stone parts of the barn and cottage needed to be painted and over the last two or three days I have done that - not a lot fortunately so a couple of dry days was enough.

We also had some men in to erect a new fence "enclosure" as we are going to get a few pigs - that is done but not by me !
