I have to say that SD looked very relaxed last night and ALL the players we spoke to have nothing but good things to say about him and the club - Craig Forsythe jumped at the chance to come to us and loves it. One player mentioned that SD is a bit more relaxed in his approach than MM...

First job of the day done. Been turning out loads of stuff that we inherited in the old forge. Huge quantities of very old fashioned keys and blanks, a war time issue of copper sulphate crystals, broken leather belts that were used to drive harvesting machines and plenty of bits of glass. Made a trip to the waste disposal place and it seemed as if half the population had been having a turn out.

Very strange in my book that waste is a masculine word where as waste centre is feminine. Does this suggest that women like collecting rubbish? <yikes> Think I better finish my coffee and get back to work.

I always find French word gender confusing. Supposedly, it's all to do with the ending of the word and not the meaning, but as always in French there are so many exceptions that I never could get it right!

Sounds like "old Ben Gunn" I reckons ;).

There is an old theatrical story about (I think) Donald Wolfit, who was asked by his dresser what he had done he had done that day, before the evening's performance:
"Went to see Bobby Newton in 'Treasure Island'... (thoughtful pause, then with an air of disappointment)... threw it away!"

The joke being that even though Newton's performance is massively OTT, Wolfit thought it required greater gusto <yikes>.

I believe the whole pirate 'ooh-arr' thing emanates from Mr Newton's performance.

I remember a very enjoyable BBC series in the late 1970s with Alfred Burke (he was in Enemy at the Door) as LJS. Superb. He only passed away in February this year - wonderful actor.
The 'Jim-lad' from that was this fella:

    whose birthday it is today...

Seems very logical in my experience - Every time I hire a skip to clear out the garage/loft/rest of the house. Mrs W_Y is back in the skip "rescuing" treasured items...mind you it's probably because she has never forgiven me for binning her old David Cassidy & The Partridge Family albums that I tried to sell at a Car Boot without telling her and no-one wanted them!...<laugh>
