    Morning all

Another lovely, sunny day here. I have tomorrow off so hoping it stays and may take a little trip down to Bournemouth beach! Also intend to buy a decent road bike to commute to work with :)

No idea who SD is close to signing... guess we just have to be patient and dismiss most of the speculation until something concrete comes through! Would be nice if we can get them in the next day or two so can train with the team before Saturday!

Oi - try telling that to the 54000 crowds who watch Brisbane Broncos play, or the 80000 who watch the State of Origin games!

And as to BHD saying it's too much like american football - words fail me. That's for powderpuffs, there's just no comparison

They are both games for guys who are afraid of physical contact!! RU is a game for big men who like to be flattened and dont need pads!!! Aussie Rules is a great game though!!!

Speaking as someone who has played both League and Union (at a relatively high level), both in UK and in Oz, I personally have no doubt which is best - in terms of skill, speed and even brute force! Have a closer look at the pro Union players - I think you'll find that they have taken to wearing pads too!

As for Aussie Rules, it's a misnomer - there are none <laugh>

They may wear small pads, but given some of the hard hits they make and the injuries they get, you can see why. I simply ment that they dont have the massive all over pads like in the NFL. Thats a sad excuse for a sport. I love to watch Aussie Rules and seeing the umpires getting confused and not knowing what to do.

Evening all again - WiFi is a bit up and down in this hotel and using a iPhone when you have a few is not easy either. I always thought Aussie rules players look a bit gay - what with tight shorts and mullets!

I went to see Adelaide against Port Adelaide on my last Aussie trip with my neice who is an ardent fan. If there were any rules they weren't too obvious and I came away with a stiff neck since the ball spent most of the time in the clouds. Weak beer as well...

    Evening all,

In view of my meteo forecast for today I went hard at the grass first thing this morning while most of you were still slumbering. Glad I got about half done as the predicted storm has arrived. Quite a good light show and crashing going on out there.

I have only just thought it safe to fire up the machine, but not for long I think as it keeps going round and coming back.

Tomorrow I fancy that it will be drill in hand and some more of Mme's purchases will need attaching to our stone walls. She will be going off to her hairdresser in the afternoon and will inspect my handiwork for level and plumb on her return. The brick walls were so much easier. :( When our man installed the satellite dish he drilled through the half a metre thick wall and admitted that he had no idea where the drill would come out. <yikes>

So I have had a look at the threads on here and elsewhere, and it seems as if it has been very quiet. Apart from the shopping habits of various attached others I don't think I have missed a great deal of illuminating info.;)

Well that's South Australia for you! Although they did have Australia's first Real Ale brewery years ago - Cooper's, not a bad drop either. You probably had the misfortune of being sold West End or Southwark - both vile concoctions.

From Frenchie - When our man installed the satellite dish he drilled through the half a metre thick wall and admitted that he had no idea where the drill would come out. <yikes>

So that's why a disembodied drill bit suddenly appeared out of one of our walls!
