We had a lovely relaxing time - I did not realise how much I like real Guinness. Thought I would just have a pint - as you have to in Ireland but found it was my drink of choice all week :)

Three things I did not know about Ireland

1 You come and go without using a passport even though it is a foreign country
2 They use kilometers not miles - ho w confusing that must be near the border with Northern Ireland
    3 It has become ridiculously expensive - nearly £4 a pint !!

I must admit I have never had a real guiness, due to my line of work we had to get a security clearance just to visit Eire. One day I would like to go and taste the real deal, that is for sure. As for the price of things, one thing the eurozone!

True - the Irish papers are full of their financial mess - they really need to leave the Eurozone asnd re-establish themselves as a "good value" country - the way they are going they will end in bankruptcy

But Leo, they have already had a bail-out and if things don't go perfectly they will be there again. They need to jump if they can out of the EUzone and try and sort out the mess they are in.

Yes indeed - they know they are in a mess - but leaving the Euro is still seen as "failure" yet it has been a disaster for them - they have a lovely country but no industrial strength so tourism will always be of massive importance - they have no sun to offer so value for money has to be one of their major offerings but anyone going there now will think seriously about a return at their prices

Which is a shame, historically tourism has been their thing and if they stay away the whole country will suffer. I don't think any country will be allowed to leave the Eurozone as you say the German and French governments have staked a hell of a lot on this being successfull and anyone leaving would make it deem the whole thing a failure.

Too true - but at some point there has to be some way of addressing the balance between the ,likes of France and Germany and then Spain, Greece, Portugal etc
