yes - fair commentary although he does let Malky off lightly in the end

Theo, I think that he said himself that he wasn't ready for a managers job, but Malky was still here then.

On the other hand there has been a lot of talk that Dyche and some of the other staff were the real power at the club.

I don't know either, but unless he learns to curb his tongue he will spend most matches watching from the stand.

Now that is a very good article by Rowson, very realistic and also much more fair to Malky than some of the comments on here that want to denigrate his character and write off his achievements before he has got across the Severn Bridge. A very good point that a new manager must not be allowed to rip up or by-pass the excellent systems that have been put in place for recruiting and developing players. He (almost) convinces me that Dyche is indeed the man for the job. I wonder if GT agrees? Though moving to Cardiff made sense for Malky, moving there as his number two may not make as much sense for Dyche. Him staying here would provide continuity in our systems , and re-assurance for our young players. Dyche knows them all very well, and can manage their transition to the first team better than any newcomer could. I think he understands the "Watford way", and can motivate young players. With him as manager and Eustace as captain/assistant manager we might have the strong leadership a young side needs.

Indeed and I was one to act and comment based on emotion and frustration Friday, possibly (no definitely) being to harsh, thats the whole point though, supporting a club is an irational emotional experience therefore we're the worst judges and when supporters like Simpson get in control its an obvious recipe for diasaster. Malkys tenure was good, the systems as per Matts article are the important thing and what must not happen is Bassini dismantle what we have. New square pegs need putting in the square holes. I really do not want to see an experienced manager parachuted in, its better for us to promote from within. I've always held the view that Taylor and Eustace are destined to move onto the coaching/managerial staff when they start to hang up boots so if Dycheys up for it I think a Dyche/Eustace Mgr/Asst PMgr will be a good move forward. Upping their payments but not making an external appointment frees up wages for 2/3 young players or one top earning additional player too. My glass if definitely full tonight.

Aberdeen--glad to see you have talked yourself back into a positive mood--and also thought better of your somewhat harsh comments of the other day. We will never know the exact sequence of events leading to Malky leaving--who was talking to who when etc--but he was a person we trusted to do the right thing before last week, and he would not change in a week, even at the possibility of a better job. Based on what we know of his character, I am sure he did things in the right way. No need to spoil good memories with recriminations. Give him a good reception on Boxing Day!

    Morning all,

A bright sunny morning here, but a bit of a breeze that should keep it feeling rather pleasant.

Off on my monthly dinner date with my Forest friend today. I think we will have plenty to talk about.

I am hoping that Mr.B is prepared to listen to those who have been around football rather longer than he has and someone who really wants to be at Watford takes the job. Will we know who is getting an interview from a reliable source rather than the bookies? The way the odds changed yesterday suggested that no one has much of a clue yet who it might be.

Morning All, well I don't know I go away for a week and we lose our manager<yikes> Had a great time in Paris but I do wonder if there is actually such a thing as a French driving test, admittedly they can parallel park but as for rules of the road!?!?! So what happened with the Kevin Phillips saga?

Morning... I was away and missed MM's departure :(

Just makes you realise who the real Watford FC is.... come thick or thin.... not the players, the manager, the board.... the supporters.

I think we are very exposed now..... who will want to come to us and play??
