I've always had a soft spot for Barcelona, for some reason. The only time I've really wanted them to lose was when we played them, but we lost 2-0, I think. What made it worse was that Venables was their coach at the time.

I think the Roo was the only Man U player who can take credit from that game!

Messis off the ball running was excellent , there were always options for the Barca player in posession!

No question the better team won, disappointing as that may be. Rooney and Park ran their socks off. Vidic made some vital blocks but there's not quite the class around the field they really needed. Mind you, can't see many teams who would have lived with Barcelona on that form.

Well if the premierships best defenders were chasing shadows, then I think our lads would have been absolutely creamed!

Malky would put the stats to work. Messi only averages one goal a game so once he has put them 1-0 up, we could stop marking him altogether. A couple of Loach blunders and a Lloyd own goal would keep them down to 4-0 by half time.

JE would amost certainly have committed two bookable offences by the hour mark and a European referee would send Taylor off too for being too big. Barca would find the acres of space now available to them confusing for a while and a speculative shot by Buckley from 50 yards out would fizz only 30 feet over the bar.

Tiredness might set in during the last 20 minutes and Barca, bored with passing the ball to each other, would now compete with each other to see who
could keep the ball up the longest and then who could nutmeg the ref.

So a final score of 4-0...not so much worse than Man U!

I think something along the lines of Watford 0-12 Barcelona would be more respectful ;)

This season, the better a team was, the more likely we were to beat them.

And even on a bad day, I'm not sure if any of our defenders are capable of playing at the low level that Patrice Evra did last night.
