Lennie, I am in the RAF and I am currently working in the Compassionate Cell at Abbey Wood, Bristol. Our main business is coordinating and booking flights and transport for Servicemen and women, MOD personnel if they have a a family emergency, bereavement or someone is very seriously ill. My job is to get them back as soon as possible. We can even charter aircraft if required. It is a worthwhile job, plenty of job satisfaction. There is plenty of other stuff we get involved in, once the day workers have left as we cover 24/7 365 days.

lovely piccies suddenly appearing in the Nest!

BBW - well done on the first week..i have to admit your story did make me chuckle! Personally i think you're doing the right thing leaving it in the drawer, though now someone else has used it, you might want to get a different mug into the draw and leave that one for the masses ;)

Thank you, Hornette...we certainly did. Mussels in a coconut milk thai soup, quail with apple and wild mushroom, rhubarb souffle...washed down with a Barossa Rose and followed by a stroll along the edge of one of the inlets that form Chichester Harbour. A very satisfying day all round.

BBW you have stumbled into the only area of islam I agree with. Cutting the hands off thieves. I hope you get your mug back.

Morning all, Mr 3 year old decided that 5.30 was a good time to wake this morning. The city looks pretty with its array of street lights, except for the black gap in the city centre - a reminder that it is still closed. Can't see the stars so there must be cloud cover. If the cloud goes I should be able to see the mountains. They will be covered in snow. We've had so much rain down on the flat lately, that will have fallen as snow higher up. The ski slopes will be opening in about a month.

    Ak! A strong espresso please.

I found trying to snowboard so frustrating. I suppose that is because I could ski by the time I tried it. Not that I'm brilliant at ski-ing. A German I know said that I ski like a typical Englishman - no fear and no style!

In one of the first jobs I had we used a telex machine. The number for it was one digit different to that of Lloyds of London so we would get messages about ships that had sunk in a variety of languages. Fortunately it was a Swedish company I worked for so that was usually someone who spoke whatever came through the machine.
