So we should be invading, Zimbabwee, Syria, Jordan, Iran and various South American and Asian countries as well then? Or was Iraq just a special case because they had WMD's and harboured terrorists? I'm sure you will be urging an invasion of Libya on that basis as well.

Invading isn't always the solution, and I'm not for human loss of life, but England are very responsible for A) The creation of countries with borders that don't represent the populations and B) Helping and sponsoring dictators when it suited our political/financial needs. With all the recent attempts at revolutions and people rising against years of oppression, I think it's our duty to assist people being killed in the street for protesting. The WMD propaganda is pure neo-consertative crap, that served its purpose at the time for them. The invasion of Iraq was probably for oil, and was not well orchestrated, but getting rid of Saddam was something I was always for.

Invasion isn't the only solution to all problems, but if it helps save lives and improve the fortunes of people in countries where they are shot in the street for protesting then it's our duty to help.

Wow, history is now being re-written in The Nest, it all happens on here.

not606 has been a bit poorly this morning, I hope it is not a sign of it not being able to handle the volumes of threads and users..

"The WMD propaganda is pure neo-consertative crap" - and there was me thinking that it was one of Bliar's reasons for supporting an invasion of Iraq.

Seems you would support an invasion of Libya as well to remove Ghadafi...rather at odds with your comments regarding Cameron and his bombing of Libya.

I am not sure that we will know more when the inquiry reports on The Iraq war, but I do think it telling that Blair was brought back to "clarify" some of his previous comments.

Speaking of inquiries, I also see that the clubs involved in the play offs have been reportedly told that the games could be delayed and that there is little in the way of celebration going on down at the Bush. I did read somewhere a carefully reasoned opinion that they could be docked 20 points, but I would be shocked if that happened with all the possible outcomes of appeals etc.

Must be a difficult time down at the Bush, not knowing whether they can celebrate the title/promotion yet!

I've heard various reports on what can be deducted... 3 points for every game he played in while under 3rd party ownership (5 games so 15 points) or 2 points for every charge (7 charges, so a possible 14 points)

I do have a feeling they will just give them 5 points and a hefty fine, so they are seen as handing out a punishment, but doesn't effect their promotion, so QPR unlikely to appeal!!

No they are not. I was saying Blair and Brown were for the war on Iraq and Cameron was for the war on Libya, from my point of view they are for similar reasons, and I supported both actions as they are against dictators. My dislike of Cameron comes from his disregard of the working class of this country, and just him in general. You brought party politics into this...

Nothing like a bit of politics to spice up a morning debate<laugh>
Frenchie its getting all very interesting , although the disruption caused to play offs ,plus the amount of time legal appeals take ,it could overun into next season!!!
thats why I dont think a points deduction is viable! Also a team that finishs in 6 spot could be displaced by QPR could and probably would launch an appeal of there own!
I think the option the FA have is serious fine prob £30 million plus!
If they do deduct points then they would have to deduct a total that still sees Qpr go up automatically(plus fine) and make Norwich Champions!
It needs to be done as fast as possible!

All sorts of talk this morning about appeals from other clubs that could happen if the points deduction isn't seen to be punishment enough! This could get quite exciting for someone who can watch from the outside, but definitely not for a QPR Supporter!

Oh, and morning all, i did say it early this morning but as the site wasn't working, it didn't send! And thanks for the caramel latte Ak :)

You stated that WMD's was just Tory propaganda - when in reality is was the reason Bliar took us into an illegal war.

You seek to justify the actions of a labour leader whilst criticising the similar actions of a Tory one - this is party politics that you introduced. Will you criticise Gordon Clowns disregard of the working class by allowing his banker mates to rape this country whilst he preached prudence and growth based on the bubble of increasing house prices?

The neo-conservative reference was to the US gov, not the UK. I was not criticising Cameron's decision for Libya, just comparing it to the Tories taking similar actions but that don't generate as much hatred for you. Also, if you were following politics at the time, the Tories were advocating more freedom for the bankers, this country's economy was very dependant on the money the City made, and you really can't blame Labour for the global banking crisis, which most Tories seem to do nowadays...

Toby / W-Y yours is a very interesting discussion but might it not be better for one of you to start your own thread for it as it is rather taking over the nest - just a thought:)

you could call it Blair v Cameron - the real match or something :)

Ak - yesterday you talked about Cardiff and Swansea. They are a bit of an historic accident if you like as they joined the English league way back when there was no real Welsh one - and so have never left and gone to that. They would not want to either as the crowds would be too small. It is a bit like the argument some use to get Celtic and Rangers to play in the English league as they are too dominant for Scotland. But there the history bent the other way and in both cases I can't see them ever moving leagues

Leo, thought the original point of the nest was to be a virtual pub , in my book that means discussions about anything are on topic!!
I mean come on you must have discussed politics in your local;)

Toby - I see you are on 241 posts - yet until a couple of days ago I confess I had not seen one of your posts on here and so thought you were a "newbie" Did you post very early on and then go away for a while?
