Morning all - overcast here with a light sea fog. Thankfully, it hasn't gone inland over the west of the island - when the airport was built in the 1930s, the planners at the time put it where any fog seems to be at its worst. This means it affects whether the paper and mail planes arrive on time but I've checked the airport website and they both landed pretty much on time at 5.30.

Ak, that V you refer to is actually in Royal Square - I'm guessing it got moved when the statue and the surrounding water feature to mark the 50th anniversary of Liberation Day was built. I'm not 100% sure as that was the year before I moved here.

I've just checked on a Jersey history website, and it was built in the Royal Square but it's not certain whether it was for victory or for Vega as the ship SS Vega brought Red Cross parcels for the starving islanders.

    Enjoy the day everyone. ;)

My "local" team won 3-1 last night, having been 0-1 down at half time. Could w_y's prediction follow that trend?

I actually managed to get on to 606 this morning - not that there is anything there any more - think of all those reporters yesterday in stupid locations asking people who were celebrating at a street party what they were doing etc :( - a couple of their costs would have funded 606 no doubt for another year

What's the weather like there - it is sunny here but quite windy - not good for high balls!

11C here and very dark we will have more rain before the day finishes. I hope the sunshine is good for the Golden Horde this afternoon.

I saw some of the royal wedding. I know she will be the queen one day but is not Princess William of Wales a good looking woman and also her sister as well.

Spotted this photo of a couple at 'The Wedding' on a news website this morning - what on earth has the one on the right got on her head?

    View attachment 2498

Thinking about it - the one on the left isn't much better!
