I had a good holiday thank you and discovered Glenlivet and Famous Grouse.

There was no problem for me to update the 606 Nest this morning. The BBC said it would not go until the football season finished so perhaps the Preston game will be the death, except having Manchester United pages open for the Chumpions League final if they are present.

I think I saw the final date of 606 was about the 26th of May... Can't remember where I read that though!

Morning all, Hope you had a good break Ak, the wife is tenderhooks her son and his fiance are expecting the birth of their first baby. Which will make me a Grandad twice over "Yikes", Shame we will not be able to see the little one till next month as they live in Germany :-( I have started my own little book of a 4pm birth and a weight of 4lb 8oz (the mum is a tiny little thing) wife has gone for a weight of 5lb 8oz! I wonder who will be closest?

    I will update you later!

Good day one and all. Nice to get some proper coffee again and glad you had a good break ak. <ok>

Started out quite early this morning to take the car to the garage for a service and a couple of new tyres. I had prepared my credit card in advance to expect a rather nasty shock later in the day, however when I arrived I was told that they were running behind and it wouldn't be ready for collection until tomorrow morning. I swear that I noticed that my card was smiling at the thought of not being assaulted for another day. ;)

Don't think the Nest fell over - probably just a hiccup for OFH - as BB and I managed to post there afterwards

It was there if you accessed it from your member page, it had gone though from the main list.

I am a bit pushed for time at the moment, so if someone has a moment maybe they could pop in there and help babyhornetdan. ;)

Nice to see you back Ak ,there was a definite missing feeling whilst you were away!
I did a survey at work today against company anti corruption policy, One of the questions
was "what is the difference between a bribe and a facilitation payment?
    that one stumped me, !

Hornetal, I know the feeling. Mrs H's first grandchild was due yesterday. She keeps checking her mobile to see if we've got to dash off to London but there's nos sign yet.

Well still no news from Germany, the little person (girl) we know already, has still not put in an appearance. Might suggest to Paul to get her a curry, that will help move things along so to speak!?!

Easy. A bribe is an illegal facilitation payment and a facilitation payment is a legal bribe.

A bribe is a payment to an individual to ease the path in some process whereas a facilitation payment is a payment to an agency to do the work on your behalf.
Customs clearance is a good example of the latter where your logistics people do everything from taking the goods off the plane to delivering to your customer. The bribe would be to get the customs chap to do his work a little quicker or turn a blind eye.
The latter is heavily frowned on in my work and one could lose your job as a result.
