People do ask daft questions, especially American tourists. I remember being in China, looking at a magnificent display of Ming vases. A woman from the USA said to our guide, "Are they Chinese?" Assured that they were, her follow up question was, "How did they get them here?" The guide was as baffled as the rest of us.

I used to work in the travel industry and I have loads of true comments made by tourists. One American tourist asked why Pelican crossings make the beeping noise when the traffic has been stopped. She was told that it was so that the blind knew that the lights had changed. After some thought the tourist said that in the States the blind are not allowed to drive.

British tourists are just as bad. One year an airport worker at Gatwick placed a cardboard box by a departure gate with the slogan "Leave your brain here."

    Hi Leo,
You will have to remind me what POETS means. I hope it's not rude because I'm worried that I have traumatised my daughter. She needed a change in the middle of the night so I grabbed something for her in the dark, not wanting to wake Mrs NZ. I have now just discovered that I have put on my beautiful, innocent daughter a garment that says she is a baby Wolves fan. We know someone who is a Wolves fan. Their daughter's clothes must have been passed on. I am not happy. Fortunately Miss NZ has been grizzling ever since she had to wear this thing.

Today has been hot, very hot for the first week in April. 29C this afternoon, so I gave up the idea of working down the fields.

Instead went and bought in supplies of wines and cheeses for friends who we will be staying with while in the UK.

Cheese they buy, but the cost of a cheap wine here escalates to something ridiculous at their supermarket. As I need to keep in trim it is a good idea to take plentiful supplies.

Everytime we meet up they talk about selling up and moving over. I think it is because of the wine prices. <yikes>

Evening all - a bit miffed tonight...<steam> I am going to a gig tomorrow to see a band who I have wanted to see for years and it turns out it is their last gig as they are giving it all up. Just found out that they are no coming on stage until 11.00 PM and finish at 01.00 am - trouble is the last tube from Brixton in 12.25....I wonder how easy it will be to get a cab at 01.00 in Brixton...<yikes> Oh well, will just have to drink too much <party> and worry about on Saturday morning when I wake up to get to The Vic...

wear_yellow - Who are you going to see? I imagine it would be alright getting a cab at that time.

I went to see Jimmy Eat World at Brixton Academy a few years back. Victoria line was down from 10pm onwards so had to walk through Brixton, al the way to Stockwell to get a train back to Euston. That was a "nice" walk.

Had some good news on Tuesday - found out my eldest son, who was originally one of the reserves, will be part of the C.I. contingent at the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden from 27th July to 7th August.

BBW - We are going to see Faithless at the Academy. Cabs are difficult to find in Brixton at any time, but with 2,000 other people looking for one at the same time as well....:emoticon-0101-sadsm Still as I said, I will worry about it another time...as long as I get home in time to get down The Vic..
