Spot on AK, especially about the media (BBC), I would add that money and big business are working behind the scenes also.

Thanks for Lattes, keep 'em coming.

Whilst I am not a big fan of politicians I am in no doubt about the merits of democracy. If we don't speak up, don't vote, don't think, then we get the politicians we deserve. That said, it's a mistake to categorise them all as pc, racist, incompetent, self-serving or any other broad generalisation. There are some, for example, who work very hard in their own constituencies.

This is why I think 38degrees is a good thing & I have signed a few of their petitions especially the one against the government trying to gag them and other pressure groups because this don't like what they are saying.

Seems I have not gone down too well on the Leeds board. Someone suggested that there should be extra points or cash for using home grown players. Seeing as we had our complete bench filled with academy players and Murray starting, I simply enquired how many points or how much cash he thought that worth. Someone from Bucks no less didn't take kindly to my question. <laugh>

Our politicians have some idea about what they are doing ,I think.

Prime Minister Sigmundur Davið Gunnlaugsson - Economics and Political Science, studied in Kaupmannhöfn and Oxford
Finance Bjarni Benediktsson – Law, was a lawyer.
Foreign affairs Gunnar Bragi Sveinsson – worked out side politics
Education Science Culture Illugi Gunnarsson - Ecomomics
Health Kristján Þór Júliússon – no easy information
Social Affairs Eygló Harðardóttir – History of Art from Stokkhólm AND Economics from Háskoli Íslands
Interior Hanna Birna Kristjánsdóttir – Political Science from Háskoli Íslands International and European Politics from Edinburgh
Fish Sigurður Ing Jóhannsson - History of Art from Háskoli Íslands and is a Vetinarian Doctor from Kaupmannhöfn
Industry Ragnheiður Elín Árnadóttir – Political Science from the Women’s university

Would that be the same brain cell who said that he hopes a new signing is hungry to prove himself at a massive club?

Must want him to leave then.<laugh>

I will try an find some to taste.

One thing the protesters need to know is our culture is similar but different from theirs. Ísland is a small island with a small population and we take a lot of things from the sea to support ourselves. Whales are one of the creatures we, nationally, eat but the numbers doing that are growing smaller amd smaller. We know that whales have difficulties so we do our best. If the protesters were quiet there is no publicity to encourage people to try this beer. Íslands economy is mainly based on fish and we have to protect this for our future. To kill one sea specie completely would be bad as it has a place in the food triangle and to lose a member would be bad for everything.

In 2013 Íslandic fishermen caught 38 minke and 134 fin whales which is not very many. No one knows how many whales there are but I hasve seen numbers as low as 350.000 and high as many million.

I have myself discovered Brakspears Oxford Gold but I prefer Hook Nortons Hooky Gold.

I think people miss the point when accusing Iceland of cruelty. Too often you get lumped in with Japan when it comes to whaling and the 2 could not be more different in terms of their general approach to conservation of marine resources. Years ago i saw an interview with a Japanese Fishing Minister who said "our vessels have fished the oceans for cenntuies and only made a few species extinct". I couldn't imagine and Icleandic Minister saying that!

I had thought about starting a new thread that we could add to as the weeks go by, entitled the collected thoughts of Hollowhead. Not sure that some of us quite strong enough to cope with a whole thread about him, so let's see if we feel up to it as the Millwall train gathers pace. To start with I would have had: "I'll try to galvanise them into a way of hard work and effort. A fresh voice in me might help them a little bit."

He is hearing things now?

I like the idea but it does risk an infestation of Millwall fans which i don't really think anyone deserves. Ah bugger it - get it posted and we can then worry about the reaction after <laugh>
