Good morning all from a finally dry but cold Weston-super-Mare! Have a good day my friends and have a very happy Christmas!
Morning all from a drying out bandit country - at last the wind has dropped to a breeze. It blew over the Christmas tree outside the house and looks like it only took a few bulbs out, so another task on the chore list. Just been to the butchers to get the meat for the next few days, it opened at 07.00 and I walked down there at 06.50 and I was about 10th in the queue. When I walked out the queue was down the road!, but it's good too see people supporting their local shops and buying quality products. Busy day ahead and will be a bit difficult at times, it's the pa-in-law's birthday and it will be the first one since the ma-in-law passed away at Easter, so he and Mrs W_Y are going to find the next few days difficult.
Yes Christmas doe bring a lot of that back eh...... my missus will actually go to a the butchers at Xmas, rather than the supermarket. All the best to your family.. difficult times here too... we watched a ( great) programme on dance bands last night.. which brought tears to the eyes..
Just back from the butcher - wish I was at work! My aunt passed away in October and we'll find it hard as she was meant to be coming to me this year - still, memories of happy times keep everyone smiling through. Merry Christmas to all the Watford family and our friends from Norwich, Leicester and Qpr Kiwi
Thanks for the seasonal sentiments Dan - echoed from my part - will soon be attempting the drive to South Wales where we will be spending Xmas at the mother-in-laws - weather willing!
Very unseasonnal weather here today. Mild, wet and very windy. Seems that some jobs have been found for me to do apart from the ones I expected to have. Oh well, will spread some Christmas cheer around some of the local friends. Joyeux Noël à tous!
Just a few bad cracker jokes to help you prepare. What did Father Christmas do when he went speed dating? He pulled a cracker! What does the Queen call her Christmas Broadcast? The One Show! Which famous playwright was terrified of Christmas?
Noël Coward! What do you get if you eat Christmas decorations?
Tinsilitis! How does Good King Wenceslas like his pizzas?
One that's deep pan, crisp and even! What do you get when you cross a snowman with a vampire?
Frostbite! What says Oh Oh Oh?
Santa walking backwards! How did Scrooge win the football game?
The ghost of Christmas passed! Every one a

Merry Christmas everyone. The sun is up and Santa has been. Apparently Prancer is not pulling the sleigh. Santa is down to seven reindeer so one of the carrots left out have not been eaten. I hope Santa gets to you on time. It is going to be a hard night for him this year. This news comes courtesy of my 6 year old.
Still wild and windy outside, something that at one time made it certain that we would lose our electricity supplies. From what I see many homes in the UK and the north west of France are without and it is not certain that they will have it back tomorrow. I wouldn't want to be outside trying to reconnect supplies tonight, so my admiration goes for those who are. I wonder how many candles are required to cook a 16lb turkey?
What a day! Brilliant night last with my daughter and sister staying and evening of red wine and singing. Unfortunately none of the trains heading north to get them back home was running this morning so I said I'd drive my daughter to her mother's in Sussex. Six hours later I'm home, having encountered floods, trees down across the road, accidents and gridlocks. The sherry and mince pie from Mrs H on my return was very welcome, especially since we've been without electricity for nearly 20 hours and were thinking our Christmas dinner with adults and small children tomorrow could be tricky. I'm happy to ay THE LIGHTS HAVE JUST COME ON! Mrs H is delirious...
Probably as relieved as we were on 12 May eh Theo?! Great news as the alternative would be a tad tricky.
