The only wine I could ever drink will not be regarded as wine by officionardos that is very sweet and sparkling a la Asti Spumanti!

I must be one of the few on here that cannot face a glass of malt. Not sure that I could face a glass of Asti Spumanti either. Somehow I rather doubt that I could find a bottle of it out here.

I'm sure you could - it comes from right next door (Piedmont). Couldn't blame you for not looking very hard though. <laugh>

Italian wines have one shelf tucked away in a dark corner. They don't even bother to wipe the dust off them. ;)

The only things I don't drink are White wine, whiskey and Brandy.

Mezcal and Tequila go down well for me :)

I would be love to be able to have a nice glass of wine again but with the amount of AEDs I'm taking now, it's a total no-no which is going to make the team Xmas meal a week Friday fun (I'm not being sarcastic). I find it fun watching my colleagues going through the various stages of alcohol-induced behaviour while I stay completely sober.

The only time I had whisky, I wasn't aware I was drinking it. When I was young, I had a cold and my Mum made me a honey and lemon and my Dad decided to put a bit of whisky in it. All I was aware of was that it was sweeter than the one I'd had earlier that day when my Dad was at work but I just thought that meant my Mum had put extra honey in as I'd asked for.

Here's something familiar - I've just seen J Barton get a yellow card. However, it's Joshua Barton of Portadown at Glentoran in the Northern Ireland Premiership.

I like whiskey from Ireland, it has the more interesting flavour than whisky from Skotland. My favourite is armagnac but this is very expensive, so cognac is better. In my home I do have four bottles of diffenet Talisker whiskies.

English plurals are so difficult I found over 20 different styles.

Brilliant sunshine sparkling on the frost here. Phone call I waited in for yesterday afternoon never came. It will probably happen while I am out at my French lesson this morning, then I will be told that it was my fault they couldn't speak. :(

Thank you for the caramel latte Ak, the English language as a whole is difficult, most English citizens never properly master it! <ok>

All down to personal taste & what you have experienced I suppose. I used to prefer Irish to Scotch, but couldn't really say that I actually liked either - and that was down to the fact that I had only ever tried blended whiskies. It was only after coming back to the UK to live that I discovered the delights of single malts - during a school trip to a local distillery! The only thing that has stopped me from sampling Irish single malts is the limited availability - simply can't find any in this part of the world, entirely understandable given the we live within the boundaries of Scotland's 'Whisky Trail'. It's on my bucket list though....

Quite honestly BB from my point of view I find Irish whiskey far too harsh for my palate, similarly, some Scottish malt whisky is too heavily peated, brands like "Laphroaig" are undrinkable to me, I much prefer the back of my throat to be warmed by Bruichladdich's "10 year old Laddy!"
