A few years ago Marks and Spencer sold British asparagus prettily tied up with a chive leaf, also grown in Britain. The asparagus and chives were flown to Kenya where the assembly took place, then flown back to be sold as British produce. It was cheaper that way.
A fair few Palomas to catch up on this Thurs night, thanks AK, been a busy week with a mate over from the UK. Have a good weekend all
Morning all, milder today, but quite foggy here. The frost that we had Wednesday night has brought the leaves down off the ash trees. There is now a deep carpet of them all along my green lane and I should collect them really, but the stalks take a long time to break down unless I chop them up.

We cannot win all the time and last year was strange as the club did too well. Data base error and bad posting again.
Thanks for the caramel latte Ak, try not to get too wound up by data base errors, hopefully they will be fixed soon!
How many times do we hear of banks and large companies up-grading and things go wrong? If it ain't broke etc.
A couple of reasons OFH. Could be that the vendor of the software no longer supports the version that is being used. If you do not upgrade you may not get support on the older version if things go wrong. One of the applications I look after needs an upgrade as SAP no longer support the current version and make a lot of mouse when we need some support - we are fortunate that being a huge corporate we can create a lot of noise. But installing the new SEPA compliant upgrades has been a nightmare and taken a couple of weeks longer as we are on an old version. We are upgrading, but the project will take 9 months to complete. Other obvious reason is that the new version gives new functionality that might improve a companies business. No business takes an easy decision to upgrade as it costs a fortunate and can be risky - helps to have a top notch PM like me on the job though!
It was a bit tongue in cheek w_y, as I was having a bit of a dig at the number of times this site goes awol. My nephew used to work for NatWest on their computer systems. They decided to outsource that function to the far east, and he forecast problems with the new arrangements. He eventually left as he became fed up with being called out in the early hours to try and sort out the problems that were happening as they tried to upgrade the system. My experience of installing a new computer system into my company was not happy as it didn't do what it was supposed to. As it was a new purpose designed program, I was not impressed to be told that I needed to upgrade before it even did what it was supposed to. I suspect that there is a whole industry out there designing new programs and effective sales forces telling companies that they need it even if what they have is quite adequate.
