I doubt many would appreciate that whistling through 'God Save the Queen' though - a tad disrespectful.
Anya won the penalty which put Scotland 2-0 up against Croatia and has been taken off after 77mins. A pretty quiet night by his standards, but 110% effort as always.
Morning all from a clear, cool Weston-super-Mare. Rain is forecast from mid-morning through the rest of the day, so I'll be off to Tesco as soon as they open at 0600 hours! Have a good day!
... is that how it works? ... right I'm off to Tesco, Sainsbury and Aldi! ... oh and morning all ... on a fine morning after a spirited England performance and another fine performance from young Mr Townsend - has to be one of the first names on the plane and in the team based on what he has done in the last two games (and comparing them to the rest of the qualifying campaign) IMHO ... and let's face it our only hope is to score more goals than the opposition because defensively we will get ripped new ones in most game

Not sure I agree with this entirely. They're not brilliant but they don't tend to concede a shed load against anyone (well all right we did against germany but that really was a one off). You are right that we do need to score more though mainly because there is this awful habbit of sitting back and inviting the opposition on to us. They did it last night again which was suicidal as the ball retention isnlt good enough. England are not a bad team - good enough to make the Quarter finals in my opinion but probably no further. I'd actually take that if they started to play attractive football and at least look as though they are pleased to be there and enjoying both the experience and the matches and just go for it.
Poland should have been ahead before we scored - Lewandowski really let us off the hook - Cahill and Jagielka are not my idea of true international class and Terry and Rio are definitely too old now ... Baines was good.... but the forwards we will face in Brazil will not be as accommodating as the Poles were. Cahill and Jagielka are arguably best against an old style physical centre forward - there are not many of those on the world stage nowadays - smaller, quicker, fleeter of foot types will really cause them problems ... we are not bad going forward and Townsend is a breath of fresh air. Defenesively I'd like to see us experiment in some friendlies - wouldn't even mind seeing Carrick as the ball player in a central defensive partnership - at least we'd then have someone looking comfortable on the ball who can pass it from the back ... would also like to see a fully fit Micah Richards, perhaps at right back but would also have the height etc to defend set pieces - Baines I think should now be first choice left back - his delivery is a real threat. Personally I think we also need to find a Des Walker type central defender - quick and agile.
Good, that's the "B" team had some good results, now can look forward to the "A" team playing on Saturday at the Vic.
