Off out to collect my strimmer from the repair shop. I have managed to do my own repairs in the past, but this time having blisters on both thumbs I gave up and took it somewhere that has the right tools for the job. Hope that it was a five minute job without a couple of hours bill.:(

    Morning all

Very grey down here. Off for lunch with my daughter and baby-sitting Mrs H's grandson afterwards. A busy day in prospect.

10C is. I thought about short trousers today and then thought not for work! We are formal, but neck ties are not compulsory. Polo shirts are not favoured by the managers either.

Back at work for a rest after the visit of my brother and his wife from darn sarf.
Friday evening we saw 3 excellent local blues bands for the princely sum of £7! Up early on Saturday to drive to RAF Leuchars for the last ever air show there, a great day out watching some very skilled pilots doing very silly things very fast and if you are a noise freak then the sound of jets will really turn you on, makes a F1 cars sound like a dinky toy. The Vulcan bomber didn't make it due to an oil leak but we did get the Lancaster accompanied by a Spitfire and a Hurricane. Yesterday they wanted to see the Royal Yacht Brittania in Edinburgh so another 5 hours on the pins but that too was an excellent attraction with a quality tea room. Very upstairs/downstairs experience when you see how the crew and royalty lived.
In addition to all that you have to be polite, drive them around and feed them....Totally exhausted now, resting legs at my desk and a good dose of telly tonight (cricket and footy highlights to catch up on).

Very wet in central London and whilst i don't actually mind cooler temperatures the sudden drop has made it feel freezing - time to get the jumpers out again i think. The forecast for next weekend is coolish and dry which is good as i'm doing a 100km walk and don't want it raining as I have no desire to do a triathlon!.

Morning all from a cloudy but dry rural France. Looks as if the days ahead are going to be fresher, so will be trying to get on top of the jobs before the days shorten. A year ago I was in plaster and couldn't prepare for winter, but will be taking care not to injure myself again this time.

Today is colder than yesterday but veðurstofa says other ways.

We have some asylum people and one of them killed himself last week. To be an asylum seeker and get into Ísland is very difficult as the committee who look after this has very harsh rules and sends most people away. The man who killed himself had a son with him but no wife, always strange that the asylum people are nearly always men, where do the women go?
