I have that problem too - which is why I no longer buy books or newspapers. Don't know what I'd do without my laptop or kindle.
I'm due to get new glasses - had a check a few weeks back - need new varifocals of a different prescription - going to cost a fortune and like you not sure they will help
I got my pair about 15 years ago in Australia - cost me nothing as I was a student at the the time. Strangely, after changing the lens prescription on my 'normal' glasses about five times since then, they are still the best pair I have. Can't beat those Aussie opticians.
Variofocals did not work for me..... £200 later .... I tried boots... you get what you pay for and as my script is very strong.. I needed thinner lenses etc etc... they did let me change them for ordinary glasses again though
Well, I'll keep you informed on the glasses front. If I don't find they are as good as the prescription I had 4 years ago I'll be more than displeased, given the cost. I shall start with the new ones, varifocals, tomorrow morning so if my posts make no sense (or even less than usual) or respond to the wrong people you'll know where the blame lies.
Afternoon/evening/morning all (well in order of what is comeing from my perspective) Friday, thank god, been a long week. Next week got it a bit easier. Got to work tomorrow so have to catch up on football when I get home, it'll be well over in Blighty by then. Enjoy the weekend all. Some cold ones from Mexico on the bar...
As you are talking about glasses I thought you might like to read about what life is like here. Mme had not had an eye test since we moved, five years at the time. She was told that it is no good going to an optician here as they don't do eye tests. You have to be referred by your doctor and then wait. The Vienne where we live has one man who does the test and then issues a result, but to get the appointment to see him will take a year. Mme decided that she would get an eye test when we were over in the UK as a prescription can be read anywhere. She had to pay as a private person seeing as we are not covered by the NHS anymore, but if the social security system here is in a good mood they will refund some of the cost. With her results she looked around at the advertised costs and decided where to go. Buy a pair of variofocals and get a pair of prescription sun glasses free was the offer and was quite true, until you found out all of the options she had to choose from, all of which came at as extra cost. For her everyday glasses she was offered various options for the lenses, ranging from they will put a big groove into the bridge of your nose, to they are so light you will forget you have them on. Taking advantage of all the best options cost a whole heap of money, I have done my best to forget exactly how much, so I suppose it is the same tale as with footballers, you get what you pay for. Thank goodness I can go into most supermarkets and get a pair of reading glasses off a stand.
Yesterday was our big fete day and the crowds really turned out to listen to a band that have had hits in the French charts. Their name Collectif Métissé. Anyone over there ever heard of them? The name meant nothing to me, but that is not that surprising.
meant nothing to me either - but I suspect you wouldn't have needed your glasses to enjoy this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kVUHDV63gA
Hope you are not getting some designer frames where you are paying to advertise their over priced product. Why are people conned by this.
cheers nz all good here don't know how you lot managed down south if yesterdays chaos with no damage is anything to go by 3 hours to drive 3km at least I was on overtime and the view on oriental parade was very easy on the eye I was even given a couple of bottles of beer to help ease the boredom
Morning all I'd already donned the new glasses before clicking on this link. They feel strange but I think I could make out one or two pleasing sights
