Don't think I can wait any longer To borrow some money from Wonga It won't need a search Just pop down to the church Where blind faith has never been stronger
There I was this morning thinking that it would be a bit cooler today. It wasn't, still 35°C, and now I am on an Orange Alert for severe thunderstorms with hail during the night.
Crazy idea really, churches lending money - didn't someone kick the moneylenders out a few years back? On the other hand, anything that gets rid of the payday lending 'industry' should be more than welcome - parasites who cause nothing but misery. I wonder if the Muslims are casting a wary eye at this - with the other eye on their so-called 'interest-free' loan system.
That's something I've always found a bit incongruous - the idea of heat and hail together. One of the most frightening experiences of my life was to be caught in an afternoon tropical downpour in Oz many years ago. A mid-summer day & the temperature had built up to 43C - I was driving home when the storm hit, with hailstones the size of cricket balls. I didn't dare get out of my car and had to sit inside it for 15 minutes as the hail slowly destroyed it - smashed every window and pounded the paint off the roof, bonnet and boot & left it looking like a huge metal golf ball. The fun really started when the insurance company tried to pull the old 'Act of God' trick...
Good morning all from a cool Weston-super-Mare, I'm hoping it stays that way today, yesterday became hotter and hotter as the day progressed! Have a good day!
Ditto to you dave. I'm doing a you today - off to the hospital for a whole-day pre-op assessment for knee replacement surgery. So the weather won't really affect me today...
Morning all, warm enough here and a shower or two possibly in the sky. Last night we were advised that there might be storms in the night. At midnight the sky was clear, the stars were twinkling and there was not any sign of a breeze. I had pondered during the evening should I take the gazebo down and thought that with it being so still it would be alright. Wrong! 3.30am the storm arrived and this morning I had, like a small boy who has lost a ball, to visit my next door neighbour to ask if I could have my gazebo back. Despite having been tied to a wall and well weighted down, the whole thing had lifted off and was lying on it's back like a distressed turtle.

Hi Kiwi. I popped over to your board during the day and it seems to be full of gloom. Surely things can't be that bad?
Posted this elsewhere by mistake...I blame old age: Any thoughts on this? Quote for sanding, filling and painting the outside windows (18 of them) and doors...£2,900 for 12 days work & two blokes. The other quote was less but the bloke excluded the doors which he said really needed replacing (they are cracked in places, with old filler peeling off). Out here in the sticks there aren't many painters and decorators around. The only others I tried were booked through to the end of September. Does it sound too much, given I suspect costs down here are higher than average?
not a lot going our way to cheer us up although if boswanker does go to turkey that should provide a lift
I did read that the best selling item in the QPR club shop was a straight razor, now they have Hary Redknapp and Steve McClaren as coaches.
