Well done England - close thing. I doubt Australia can rely on two such brilliant last-wicket partnerships again though - suspect that's it from them for the rest of the series.
Superb win today for Chris Froome on the slopes of the Giant of Provence, Mont Ventoux. This was the longest stage of the entire Tour ridden in temperatures around 30°C. As he out sprinted his rivals you could see the pain on his face, but he has now strengthened his hold on the yellow jersey.
A fantastic day for Chris and he is pulling out a good lead. Not a bad day for English sport so far and with the red bull soap box race now on its only going to get better. Just a shame to hear the sad news of the death of Cory Monteith at the age of 31. RIP Cory, Glee will not be the same with out him.
Recorded it and just watched the highlights. How anyone can launch attacks towards the end of a day like that beggars belief. Well done, CF. When I drove up Ventoux one boiling hot August day perhaps 20 years ago there were plenty cycling up it, including one fellow in his 80s...
Morning all A strange time to be up and about, but I was wide awake and it's another fine morning here. Blackbird, woodpecker, thrush and goldfinches have already had breakfast in the garden. Just noticed I posted at 6.06 for the first time...
It's even better than you think! The site clock runs about six minutes fast, so your actual time of posting was "NOT606!"
Morning all. Hot here already which is not good for me today. Am accompanying for singing exams today in a school. One pupil being Maestroette. Think I will be more nervous about her exam than she will be. 5 singers and 10 recorders to do. Have a good day all.
Another hot one is here. Need to spend some time down the far field before the midday sun becomes too much.
We had a bit of a bump a couple of weeks ago but that was the first in ages. The heavy rain we had at the same time revealed major leaks in our kitchen. Of course we haven't received any money from EQC or insurance and we have run out of our own money to carry out any more repairs but we are still a lot better off than many. The central city was finally opened last weekend but there is nothing there anymore. The roads are improving. There is heaps of work going on. My advice to you is to have nothing that can fall to the floor - even bluetak will help, and fasten furniture to the walls. Also promise me that you will not have an unsecured television in the bedroom. Even an old fashioned heavy one can fly across a room and land in bed with you, and that is not pleasant for the emergency services.
good luck for the winter mate no tv allowed in the bedroom will think about chains for the rest though
