By heck, it's grim down south. Chilly and a persistent drizzle for the whole morning. The small consolation is I won't have to water the veggies.

Justin Dealey is usually a reporter and has a short Saturday morning show so isnt used to being the presenter and keeping his feelings hidden. It didnt help that he is a Luton fan. It was a shame Iain Lee was off, he knows nothing about football and would have been impartial

Good day all, you all seem to have been busy on here while I have been out on a local history day with a mighty fine and filling dinner thrown in for good measure. I had to pass on the cheese as I was already over filled and dessert was still to come. Slightly over wined as well due to a bottle of rosé and a bottle of rouge being provided within the price and I was sat with a group of very light drinkers. A good job I didn't have a beer as well with the grapefruit with wine being served up before the serious stuff.

Sat next to a lady of uncertain age who I got on very well with. As a Parisian I found her easy to understand and we had a splendid time together. After we had finished the meal I asked Mme about my companion and was informed that she it known for being quite a flirt. Don't think I disgraced myself by just warming her cold hands up. ;)

Rather cloudy here, but temperature fine. If the rain stays away I have a wall to paint outside. French masonry paint is fine and doesn't flake off a couple of years after you have put it on, which is different to external gloss paint that doesn't like hot sun.

Morning coffee, thanks ak, then must get going. Hope the right job turns up soon. <ok>

I have a response from my monday meeting. The company like me, I did well in my test and they wish to give me the job. The bad side is the company took one month and half one month to organise themselves and they now have more people to see. Perhaps at Christmas I will know a definate answer. <yawn>

Good luck with that AK <ok>

It does strike me as odd that they wish to give you the job, yet have more people to see. A strange recruitment process.

similar system here BB they have their favoured candidate but must by law interview others ,seems to waste a lot of folks time if you ask me .
To land a job in Norway most important thing is to be Norwegian , any jobs they dont wish to do ie too dirty they bring in the foriegners:)

Having organised and headed more interview panels than I care to remember within the Australian Public Service, I can at least say that their process is (or maybe that should now be was, given my absence ;)) fair, efficient and speedy - from time of advertising to the successful candidate being 'in place' was rarely longer than a month. We had a fairly rigorous short-listing process but always managed to interview at least three, but never more than six for each job.

I only got caught out once by a 'foreigner' - agreed to a telephone interview for a Vietnamese lady from Melbourne (much more cost-efficient than flying her up to Queensland). She won the job but when she turned up to start, I found that she couldn't speak a word of English. Fortunately for me, and unluckily for her, I had had the foresight to request that the door to the interview room in Melbourne be covered by CCTV......
