Referendum here tomorrow to decide how many politicians the States is to have going forward. There is currently 51 with 3 different types: Connetables (the equivalent of a mayor for each parish), Deputies (who represent a parish or in the larger parishes such as St. Helier, part of a parish) and Senators who are elected by all islanders who can be bothered to vote. The 3 options all involve reducing the number of politicians from the next round of elections - isn't them agreeing to that a bit like turkeys voting for Christmas?
Normally I am quick to stick the boot into the BBC, especially for it's sports coverage and lightweight journo's - but I have just seen a fascinating programme about the intelligence of Whales and Dolphins on BBC4, it was utterly absorbing. On now is an equally fascinating and horrifying programme about the death camp at Treblinka - when they make good TV, it really is the best.
%^&^%$£"£$%^ That was because I can't put what I want to. H would blush at that, and that language would not be suitable for her eyes or ears. In all seriousness, I am gutted at missing that programme. Hope it is repeated sometime. I have had the privilege - if that's the right word - to have visited Belsen. It really is horrific, but also fascinating. I had seen pictures and films about it, but nothing prepared me for the feeling that I experienced, when I entered the camp and saw the original photos. Personally, I think every kid in school should see something like that, then they might just realise how fotunate they really are.
Maestro - check the BBC4 section on the BBC web pages. They list if a programme is going to be repeated soon. Posh - what about a glass for the rest of us. We need to get into shape for Saturday..
