Morning all from a chilly West West London - it was -1C when I left bandit country and the Zil was covered in a thick frost, so thick I had trouble getting the door open . Thanks for the frothy AK. I wonder if we will hear from the FL this week?
Morning from Snowy Yorkshire... traffic snarled up all over as usual..... however myself am not going anywhere today
Morning for bandit country.....I think? The fog was so think this morning that you could barely see anything. Well that was a pretty naff weekend for sport, we lose and England lose. Plus I was supposed to go to the zoo yesterday with the family and we stopped half way there and headed home as the weather was so bad.
From the French press: "When Frank Lecerf set off to do his weekend shop near Abbeville in northern France he had no idea he was about to make the national news. The 36 year old was on a dual carriageway on his way to the hypermarket when his car's speed regulator got stuck at 100kph. Every time he tried to brake, the car accelerated. Before long he was careering along at 200kph, where the regulator jammed. Showing calm he managed to call the emergency services while dodging other vehicles in the fast lane. The police dispatched a number of cars, but it soon became apparent that Mr. Lecerf's only option was to keep going until his petrol ran out. Escorting him at breakneck speed across almost 200kms of French autoroutes, the convoy passed Calais and Dunkirk, and were soon heading towards the Belgian border. The toll stations were warned to raise their barriers as Lecerf ploughed through. Shortly after his petrol tank finally spluttered empty and losing speed he managed to swerve into a ditch in northern Belgium, not far from La Panne. (Panne in French is breakdown). As Mr Lecerf suffers from epilepsy his car had been modified to have the throttle and brake controls on the steering wheel and it seems it was not the first time they had jammed. Renault had looked at the controls after the first incident and said nothing was wrong."

Another sodden afternoon...not even fit for ducks. Mrs H is baking a chocolate cake..so some consolation ahead at least.
It's best not to get too political or religious in the nest, but does anyone else see the funny side of asking a leader based in Rome to speak out against imperialism?
I heard that now there was a temporary Argentinian person in the Vatican Argentina wanted that territory also. I do not see the funny side at all, but I know God is Ãslendingur so He will instruct pope Frans to take the side of the island people against anybody.
Living in a country that is nominally Catholic, I do see a church in decline. What struck me as funny was his call to have a church for the poor when you see the opulence that surrounds him. If he can change things then I think he will be super-human. At local level a lot is done for the poor, but Rome is a world apart.
How can you take seriously someone who wants to be thought of as a "man of the people", yet he is the leader of an organisation that refuses to sanction contraception and forces more poverty on some of the most desperately poor people on this earth. In addition refuses to sanction a womens right to choose an abortion - even if she is a victim of rape! My old dad always insisted that the RC always promoted large families to keep the collection plates full and cash flowing into the Vatican.
I got my application form today to be put on the waiting list for States Housing or a Housing Trust property. I live about 5 minutes walk from the Housing Department building and I need to speak to someone face to face about a couple of aspects of my application. Applications by post are sent to the Housing Department Office but if you want to see someone about it, you have to go to the Income Tax Office! Luckily, I've just completed my Income Tax form so I can take that in at the same time.

Yesterday was training day and wednesday and one day next week as well so yesterday was bad as I do not like sitting is a small room with no air. Today I return to my work and the computers are not working. I think the owner has not put krónur in the electricity box. More snow at night and -3C today.
Morning all from a murky misty West West London - a tad milder today, but I hear that more colder weather is on it's way! Corporate madness has had a poor Q1 and we have been told to save even more - I have to lose my best techy contractor at the end of the month and now forced to get him to take 2 days holiday this week and next! Guess what will happen when a load of urgent orders get screwed up and they need a techy to clear them? - the proverbial will hit the fan!
Morning, thanks for the coffee Ak. Having a meeting at the school today for MasterSandy, all the departments (school, EYST, SENCO) involved with his ongoing autism assessment will be there so it should be interesting. Hopefully we'll be able to bring up the subject of which school we want him to go to next. The one we want is a very good special needs school but it is 'out of county' so we will have to fight to get a placement. So seconds away, round one!!! Wish me luck.
Good luck Sandy, fight like a mad dog, it's the only way with these pen-pushers sitting in their Gin Palaces. Oh and thanks for the frothy AK
