Morning all from a very wet and mild West West London - was pouring down and 6C when I left bandit country and dropped Little Miss W_Y at the station. It seems that there are still a lot of delays and cancellations after yesterdays problems with the power lines - no doubt a couple of Them supporters went on the look fopr some copper cables....<yikes>
Thanks in advance for the frothy AK - much appreciated.
Really looking forward to Saturday now, Brum is going to be mobbed..

morning all! Hmm, nope, correction...afternoon all...(where does the day go to!?)

Thinking about heading to John Lewis this afternoon to spend some birthday vouchers...desperate for a Tablet but really have no reason or justification to buy one...is it bad to get one anyway? I was thinking about a Nexus 7 since i'm an Android person..any thoughts?

Off tomorrow for a Spa day to spend some more birthday vouchers...i'll be gutted when they're all spent!

Did you see the paralympian Oscar Peterson has been charged with shooting his girfriend to death - he has no defence the police say he hasn't got a leg to stand on

    I'll get my coat ......

I think that story will just run and run although the SA Police are a bit stumped to find a motive

H - Get an iPad and off that Android garbage..you know it makes sense. Did you see all the tickets for Brum have been sold and there is just 300 left to sell on the day - I have quite a few mates that need to get one on the day and are getting a bit worried they may have to leave the pub early!

H - you will regret it. I am on Mrs W_Y's iPad, but I am going to treat myself to a mini when I get the chance....

Looks like Brum is a sell out. A mate went to the ground today and no tickets available - they said 300 on sale on the day. So another rang Brum and they said no tickets on the day, but after pushing said that they would have 200 available through the cash turnstile. They said they will open them at 13.30, so there will be a lot outside trying to get me - my mate is going to complain to Watford tomorrow....hopefully they will get Brum to open up more space.

It's not Apple....!! Easy to use, best technology...
I'm OK, I got tickets last week, but I know at least 10 that are paying on the gate - looks like we will have to exit the pub early and enjoy the refreshments in the ground!

We are to expect snow today but the temperature is 2C so I think this will be rain.

Alan Mayes. With Walter Lees and Ross Jenkins scoring also in a 3:2 win against Port Vale.

Morning all from a bright and sunny, although a little chilly bandit country.

Getting excited about tomorrow - beer train at 11.15, into New St by 12.00. Find a pub to watch Them get stuffed, then to the ground to watch us stuff the Brumies! Back to the pub in the station after and then the train home at 18.30 - old school day out at football

    Thanks for the frothy AK..

    Morning All,

Thanks for the coffee Ak, what a lovely morning so nice to see the sun and hear the birds singing for a change.

re OFH's question, I got a book for my birthday last year entitled WATFORD FC On This Day compiled by Matt Rowson. On looking at 16th November it didn't have 1974 but 1968. I will give you the quote but can you tell me who they were talking about.

' Watford faced Cheltenham Town at Waddon Road in the first of the FA Cup. After Kieth Eddy's penalty had given the Hornets the lead, former pub footballer ***** ******, making only his second start, missed a good chance and ran to the visitors' bench to beg to be substituted. His request was denied and he arrived back in the penalty area just in time to head home the subsequent corner, his first senior goal. Dixie Hale and Terry Garbett completed a 4-0 victory'

Do you know who the Pub Footballer was?

Thanks for the peppermint cappuccino AK. Would have preferred a peppermint latte but I suppose this is a compromise between that and a skinny cappuccino ;)
Just had a thought... Not been overly impressed with previous versions of our away kits in recent years (not least the white one [spits to side]) and thought a black and white striped one might go down well with our friends Oli et al. Our nickname could then be 'the Zebras' which would make sense as we are now the feeder club for a smaller team in Italy - la zebrette :)

    Morning all

With regards to Android Vs Apple... for me, Apple every day

I used to have the iPhone 3GS. Changed to a HTC Sensation about a year and a half ago, and regretted in with a few days. My contract is up this summer and will go back to the iPhone

I also have a HTC tablet - it was 'ok', but wasn't great. I bought the new iPad last month, and it's brilliant - so much better! The only plus point of the HTC over the iPad is it's useful for reading, but now I have the iPad, I think I will sell the tablet and buy a Kindle!

I am with you Kev - I am going to treat myself to a iPad mini so that I can use it for books as well. But a funny story is my eldest son - he brought a rather smart Samsung camera and was given a small Samsung tablet as a freeby. Overall he says it is not as good as his iPad but he does concede that the Samsung does have a "couple of nice features" - now he is a total Apple freak and Jobs is his ultimate hero and for him to say that is really something!

It was indeed Endean, but not really a "pub footballer" surely. He played for Pelton Fell Workman's Club (CIU affiliated).

I was at that Cheltenham match - we were far from being the "family club" then. I remember the Horns fans piling off the Supporters Club coaches at the ground, marching into the town centre scattering shoppers and kids before filling the local hostelries. We then weaved our way back to the ground, impressing local Town followers (they were non-League then of course) with our dubious chants then, more or less constantly during the second half, doing "Knees-up Mother Brown" under what passed for their home end stand.

    Great days indeed.
