I was watching John Bishops 'Only joking' on tv last night and became a little inspired so I turned round to Mrs Hornet and said

"Wlliam Shakespeare walked into a bar but before he could ask for a drink the Landlord said " You're bard".

    Not even a giggle........

I just got off the phone with a friend who lives in Maine. He said that since early this morning the snow has been nearly waist high and is still falling.

The temperature is dropping near zero and the north wind is increasing to gale force.

His wife has done nothing all day but look through the kitchen window and just stare.

He says that if it gets much worse, he may have to let her in.

Yesterday I was most impressed by the speed we got our boiler fixed. Today I was less impressed by the bill...£437, including £284 for a new fan.

What are the chances of the game Saturday being called off because of snow? The pitch could be fine with the heating system, but will H & S want to get involved?

I assume that if it is unsafe to walk to the ground, it will be unsafe to walk to the shops, or have I got that wrong?

Would someone pop outside and have a quick look at the sky so that I can plan my afternoon. ;)

a lot of people on twitter seem to think it'll be off but the forecasts i see are for a light dusting of snow and sleet on Saturday afternoon...which means the ice won't be dangerous..and the match should go ahead...but H&S are completely unpredictable so your guess is as good as mine lol

I just hope that if they are going to call it off they make an early decision...160 miles is a long way to drive for no game.

Tomorrow being Friday I always wonder what the Wobbly will come up with.

Someone is claiming that they will report that six players are in advanced talks about long term contracts.

They could tell us we have six new players on proper contracts, one is Diego Fabbrini and the one other is Adrian Mariappa returning from Reading. Troy Deeney has been sold to Aston Villa for GBP3million and the academy is to have their money doubled.

I shall stop drinking brennivín now.

Evening all - just looking at the weather forecast and it looks the line of the amber warning of up to 5 cm's of snow cuts right across bandit country - so who knows! I am home tomorrow so I am not bothered, but I really wanted a trip to the vic

I am fairly certain that the pitch will be fine. It will be the H+S side of things that could cause the postponement. I did joke that maybe some of us should get their early Saturday morning and clear the snow.

Just watched the BBC snow report from deepest Wales - hope you're snug and warm Leo.

Although they don't make snow like they used to - I can remember trudging to school in Watford knee deep in the damn stuff - inadvertently pulled my foot out of my wellie one morning & had a hell of a job finding the wellie and getting it back on. Glad there were no mobile phones back then <laugh>

I'm supposed to be going to Cardiff this weekend - I think that's a no-go as I'm supposed to be getting the early morning flight to Southampton tomorrow then getting the train. What an irony - not being able to go to an ice hockey game due to bad weather!

Oh, by the way we've got snow and a temperature of 2C in the "warmest place in the British Isles". <laugh>
