Hackney just texted me, he was at the game, to say he gave almunia a fiver so we could get a 3-1 result as we had both predicted it!
And a handy one for you too this afternoon. You could climb out of the relegation zone if you win your game in hand. Pity for you it's against us though.
It was a real thrill for me to be able to see the game today. I now have a much better idea of the sort of football GZ is trying to play. The speed and movement of the forward line was impressive. Deeney seems a real bargain now. He fits into the side very well. Even the defence seemed competent. Whilst they had to make last ditch tackles and saves, they did that. To score against us would appear to require inventive opposition forwards. I have one question. Was this a better than average performance?
Not a lot of difference to the 1st half last week NZ, but today we started more slowly and were better 2nd half. I cannot compare more games as I only get to see a few and highlights. Listening to Hornet Player you have the impression that each week we are getting that little bit better, and I have wondered just how good we might become.
NZ - I would say that was a very typical Watford away performance. We sit back and let the home team come at us, break them down and counter attack with pace and movement. At home it is a little different as teams who have done their research try to close us down in mid-field and counter attack themselves - that is why home games seem a bit more tense and going away is such a joy. Trouble we will now have after tonight is that teams will really take us seriously and not just that "group of loanees" - we are now a team to worry about!
Whoops, I see that a number of Watford fans went down to "their" pub, the Yellow and Red Lion to see the game this evening, and were served up with the Arsenal game instead. Not happy bunnies I think! Seems that they don't have the Sky package and have to take whatever game is being shown by the Italian provider.
Thats exactly the case. A sky subscription would cost £1000 and the pub simply cannot afford it. So they use a foreign provider, but unfortunately they dont cover SS2. Josh Price tried to sort something out, but it just wasnt possible.
If they are showing games without Sky, then they risk being taken to court. Very risky considering their visibility.
Thats not true. They can use a foreign decoder, or something similar, which is perfectly legal. It follws the precedent decided in this case http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-17150054 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-EU-fight-screen-Premier-League-football.html So long as there are no logos or national anthems or pre-recorded video sequences or previous games in the programme.
Dan - that was a partial judgement. It is not the use of a foreign decoder that is in question, it is the broadcasting of a Fl game that is in question. If sky send in inspectors and find a breach then they will be fined - pubs are still being taken to court for broadcasting content they are prohibited from. With the position of the pub and it"s focus on football, it"s risky..
Morning all from a bright and breezy bandit country. Looking forward to New Years Day now..it will the first time I have been to a match on NYD for years as we normally host a big party, but this year I have decided to give it a rest and will be down The Vic instead. Interesting watching the FL show - good to see Coventry turning it around and beating Franchise FC as well and Blizzard scoring for Yeovil!
Good day all. A gentle day after the excitement of watching such a good display from the team. How many will want to go to the Vic on Tuesday, any guesses? I will go for 14,500, but after the way we have played in the last two games it ought to be more. Still there is only so much money to go round at this time of year.
I don't often watch Prem games, but seeing as I went with a QPR fan to the Vic last week I thought I would have a look. They are just plain dreadful, not a clue first half and deserve to be 0-3 down. I am sure that we could have given Liverpool a better game.
Frenchie , I reckon we could`ve beat Loserpool Man City may be too big an ask ,but whatever the score it will be a great day
I don't normally watch Match of the Day, but did so last night - and soon grew tired of commentators, pundits, managers, ex-players and current players discussing penalty incidents in terms of 'definite penalty as there was contact'. When on earth did football become a non-contact sport? Falling over because someone touched you (more often than not only in or around the opposition penalty area) doesn't rate a mention in the Laws of the game. Which set me thinking about Brighton's penalty last night. To my, admittedly yellow-tinted eyes, Lualua fell over because he felt contact rather than because he was fouled - but I was more interested in the lead up to the incident, in which he very clearly pushed Hogg in the back causing him to fall over both Almunia and the line before ending up out of the field of play. So, two questions. When did mere contact become an offence in the game, and since when was a push in the back not even considered to be contact?
Im glad im not the only one to see the shove. He did it to Tommie too, and Tommie got hurt in the collision! It was dangerous and could have been a lot worse!
Morning all on this Saint-Sylvestre day, new year's eve. The sun is shining, it is dry and warm, and the daylight is 1 minute longer than it was yesterday. New Year's Day only became standardized out here in the 16th century as the 1st January. Prior to then it was often thought to be the 1st March and sometimes the 25th December. All over the country tonight will be feasts, often with 15 different courses, followed by dancing into the night. One custom is to kiss people under the mistletoe at midnight rather than around the Christmas period. I think I will be in bed.
