For cup games the home team is obliged to provide up to 15% of the ground as long as they can be "safely segregated" - for league games there is no such restriction, so they can offer a lower number of seats.
No w_y, although I am registered and on the data base, I have never had a card. They still issue me with paper tickets.
My gem from the French press today regards that well known actor and figure of fun Gerard Depardieu. It seems that along with numbers of other very rich people he has moved home, 1 kilometre across the border into Belgium. Without having to take on nationality he can live there and save himself a small fortune in taxation. Wealth tax, inheritance tax and income tax are much lower over the border, and with our new President threatening to take as much money as possible off the rich, there is a steady stream heading north. Although it does not worry me in the slightest, it does seem that you get a reasonable amount of tax, or none at all.
yes please w_y, that'd be great! I remember using one in Ruislip when we went to Villa Park for the semis, but i can't remember who we used...
i think w_y is right..with a fan ID you should be able to get a card that they can just load the matches onto...worth looking into. One of my twitter footie friends has one...now he swipes and doesn't wait for paper tickets...

Morning all Lovely sunny day. Driving up to Surrey to keep an ancient relative company today. She has lots of stories about Bernardos, the Blitz, GIs etc so it's usually entertaining.
Morning all from a bright & sunny West West London - thanks for the coffee AK. Agree H - RIP Patrick Moore, one of those very British quirky eccentric characters that you sadly do not see so much of these days. I loved watching TSAN and alway found the stars some much more interesting and easier to understand with PM presenting. Well happy bunny this morning - just got an email from Little Miss W_Y confirming our tickets for Day 4 of The Oval Ashes test....yesssssssssssssssssss!
Day 4 is normally a good one to see whether we're on top or they are, hope you get a full days cricket. BTW I am very jealous. The last time i went was a one day game which was a bit of a damp squib.
Morning all, a damp start to the day, but that has blown over and we now have blue skies and bright sunshine. After my coffee, went off on the bread run and picked up todays copy of Centre Presse. One item caught my attention as it shows up how the natives regard the law. Roughly translated it comes out like this. Each year, in Place le Clerc in the centre of Poitiers, Chalets de Noêl are set up. One of these is taken by a certain Julien Dumas, whe each year sells vin chaud from it. This year there has been a bit of a problem as the Mayor, Alain Claeys passed a law last May, banning drinking in the street. If you are caught doing so you face a fine of â¬11. This created a bit of a problem for M. Dumas, so he consulted with the officials at the town hall. With a "pirouette administrative" an area was marked off outside the chalet on the pavement and this was deemed to be a terrace, so preventing any customer from getting nicked.
In the 90s, I went to the first day of a test at Lord's against Sri Lanka - Alec Stewart got booed for slowing his scoring rate down near the end of the day when he was approaching his ton - bet that wouldn't have happened if it was player from any county other than Surrey! I was hoping to go to one of the tests in NZ in Feb/Mar for my 40th (which is in Jan) but restrictions on hols in the 1st quarter of the year means that I can't.
OFH - I love the way the French can find ways around such trivial matters when it comes to something really important like enjoying a glass of wine at the Christmas market. Just imagine the same scenario here! It would take a risk assessment, with input from Social Services, Highways Dept, Licensing Authority, local Plod, Trades Unions, AA (both flavours probably!) - by the time they got to a decision if would be Easter! Theo - My old grandad was a Bernando's boy and as a small boy I could listen to him for hours telling stories of the old days - they knew how to tell a story and something sadly lacking these days..
evening all...won't be up late tonight, early start...early test..fingers crossed, this one is important!
