Many years ago I used to work in Somerset House before the ice ring - a beautifull and rambling building - going from one wing to another you used to have to go up and down different staircases -bit like Hogwarts

I worked there for a while too - the staff lunch room I frequented had the best subsidised meals, steak pie and a pint of Guinness for a shilling.

Well, it was rather a long time ago.

evening all. Thanks again for all the good thoughts, and wishes. You've all been amazing, i'm humbled.

Life is slowly getting back to some sort of normality and i can focus on other things for a while. Prayers finish on Monday, i will be glad when it's all over, but at least tomorrow is a day of not thinking about sad things, but concentrating on a Watford win ;). I'm in the posh bit tomorrow, President's Lounge with SLB apparently, should be an interesting afternoon, though between you and me, i'd rather be slumming it in the Rookery. Still, i hear lunch is worth it ;).

Booked my tickets for the Etihad..14 all together, should be a great day. If anyone knows anything about minibus hire, i'd be grateful to hear!

Not sure why i'm still awake so i'll bid you all a good night..i have a eulogy to write tomorrow..it seems i'm giving one at prayers on Sunday with a couple of friends...oh dear...!

Night night all, hope your dreams are sweet :)

Morning all - Just off to Watford! <yikes> Going early to do some Xmas shopping - I have a Mrs W_Y list to guide me! Then to the game....

H - There is a good hire company in Ruislip that we use from time to time - we used them for Brighton away last season. I will get some details today in case you want them. I think it's hire only, so if you need a driver, it might not work out though. I got 6 tickets yesterday, but need another 3!

I used to have to visit Bush House about once a month to fix some equipment the BBC had, it was very much like that there as well. Also the old Lloyds Register building was weird, you had to get out of the lift on one floor and then walk up stairs to another floor as the lift did not stop there <yikes> Real character those buildings but a pain in the arse if you were visiting and had to keep going back to the car to get parts!

Morning All, I now have an arm ache after writing Christmas cards that have to be sent abroad to places like England.;)

Not sure why, but every year I seem to draw the short straw!

Morning all, a cold crisp morning in rural France with frost overnight.

Market stalls are going up in the town squares for the Marché de Noel and the commune's workforces have been out installing the decorations in the streets. If you choose to visit one of these markets you never know how many of the stalls will be occupied, as there are only so many traders to go round them all. Our small commune tried having one for a couple of years, but they were never that successful due to lack of producers and poor weather. As I have said before, when it gets cold shutters are pulled tight about six pm and the villages are deserted. Logs are put on the wood burners, TV is turned on, and keeping warm is number one priority.

Morning all from a bright & sunny bandit country - I still have the feeling of being mugged after yesterday. Although we were very under-par, that was a classic Steve Bruce mugging!

H - Company in Ruislip we hire mini-buses from is Jaf Vans - we are working out the best way to get there as well...

Mrs H , hope you're ok for a bit of a jape after your recent trials, but if you need 14 ! seats for the Cup Match (and you did say 'my tickets'),a person in my house [hopefully nor reading this] knows a very effective diet plan.

I am trying to get to Manchester but I need five tickets from other matches. I am not a billionaire.

The idea is that you reward those fans who travel regularly and dont allow those who are jumping on the band wagon. However, it does penalise people like yourself who cannot afford to make many games but are loyal and honest supporters. But the club have to prioritise some over others and that means that you miss out.

Perhaps one positive of the ticket allocation for the City game is it might encourage more fans who are not ST holders to use their fan ID and book on-line. Every home game just before kick-off (I am always late!) there is a queue at the ticket office, if these supporters booked on-line using their fan ID they would not have to queue and they would get the games allocated to their ID. So instead of hunting around for ticket stubs and trudging down to The Vic, they could get their cup ticket on-line - if there are any available of course!

I do have a fan ID as does Mme, and on the few occasions I get to the Vic I book on-line but still have to queue to collect the tickets as they will not send them to France.

It seems unlikely that we will sell out our 6,000 allocation for the Man City game, so I think it is well worth keeping an eye on the official site for tickets that will go on general sale.

Sorry Frenchie, but we had sold nearly 4000 on saturday. So who knows how many will have gone now. I think we will be very close.

OFH - Do you not have a members card? When you buy on-line I thought that they load that game onto the card and you just have to swipe the card at the turnstile and they send you the seat numbers by email, so no need to queue - I am sure that's how it works

Strange that ManUre only had 2600 fans there today (according to Five Live) and there wasn't even a capacity crowd.

I like the idea that we are a bigger drawcard though. ;)

Ahahah. We are taking more fans than utd and from roughly the same area. Watford is close to London afterall.
