In 1976 the night before the Grand National I dreamt the L'escargot won and Red Rum came second. I didn't bet on that either!
In 1967 before the Grand National I dreamt that Foinavon won - probably because I had drawn it in the office sweep - so I put £1 on it - a lot of money back then as you could get 16 pints of bitter for that. It won at 100-1 That was my one and only though - haven't had any such dream since.

Morning all, very mild but damp here this morning. I will have to adjust my open air plans for the day. Big accident on M1 this morning with it closed near Watford. Hope w_y was through before the chaos started.
Mornin' - freezing cold and snowing up here, not pleasant at all. Bit of a problem with my car earlier - went out to defrost the windscreen which was covered with frozen snow, inadvertently turned the wipers on and stripped the rubber off the wiper blades Had a freezing ten mile drive to the nearest garage with the window down & my wife wiping the snow off the windscreen with a squeegee mop, only to find that they didn't have any wiper blades in stock - had to leave the car there and take the day off work It's the wife's birthday today too - she's less than impressed.
A small item taken from France 24 which might make you smile. A mayor in France's northern Oise region is leading the charge to improve politeness by introducing a law forcing people to remember their Ps and Qs. A poll earlier this year revealed âlack of mannersâ was the number one cause of stress for 60 percent of French people and Gerard Plée, the mayor of the small town of Lhéraule, to the north of Paris, has taken action to ease that anxiety for the 185 residents. From now on, visitors to the town hall will be asked to leave the building if they do not say âhelloâ or âthank youâ to staff. The decree, designed to enforce âsocial standards in the municipalityâ, will be applied when there is a âconcrete exampleâ of a breach of courtesy. No grumpy people allowed âI believe that when people enter the town hall they should comply with certain practices like saying hello and goodbye as well as please and thank you,â said Plée. âBeing polite is the basic gesture of respect towards others which is needed for people to live together in harmony.â âIf I donât introduce this rule I have no power to take action against these people because there is no law in France that forces people to say hello, and thereâs no judge who will condemn someone for not saying it.â A notice pinned up outside the door of the building warning visitors of the new regulation makes it clear exactly who the mayor has in mind, with âthe eternally dissatisfied, the rancorous and any other grumpy peopleâ all politely asked to mind their manners. Thankfully, the mayor has accepted there are certain occasions in the town hall when stress and nerves can get in the way of basic courtesy, so he has agreed the decree will not be enforced on election day or on wedding days.
Good Stuff Mr F ! wonderful last bit. Time something similar was put into effect on 'Not'....thats me out then.
Good morning, Nick. Bonjour, Frenchie. How are you both? Well, I trust? And your families? And friends? If the rule has to be enforced on wedding days there may not be too much hope for the marriage
Afternoon all from a damp but brightening West West London - thanks for the coffee AK, much appreciated. Just managed to work around the jams OFH. I got in the car this morning to be greated with the fuel warning light coming on, a result of Mrs W_Y "just borrowing" my car yesterday. No problem I thought, I will go down to J6 and fill up on the A405 - until I heard about the accident and decided to stay clear on that part of town. So I jumped off at Hemel, filled up and then went down the A41 and got on the M25 at Kings Langley - so a bit lucky today. Nice article about manners...could do with that in a few other places.
Guys, if you're on Facebook and send out an invite be careful on the settings. My sister sent out an invite for an open house on 23rd Dec and was a bit surprised that I could see it - she didn't send me the invite as she didn't think that I would be over then. It was supposed to go to invitees only but friends of invitees could also see it. Just as well she found out from me, and not someone who she wouldn't want there.
A very warm and polite afternoon to you all, I tip my sombrero in your direction (Polite enough?) All good over here, 2 weeks until 3 off and am going to the coast, then to Leon with the in-laws then to the coast for a few days over new year. I want to go big game fishing but don't think I ahve the money to rent a boat, shame, beats all the carp and pike fishing I did back home. Put the xmas tree up yesterday, then had some nice seafood. Turns out the seafood wasn't the best, made a guest appearance again last night. This is not a good sign for fishing either, day off today too. Was working on Sat and Sun was with the Mrs so good time to catch up on news today and do some househusbanding. Have a good week all. Let's hope we get some good news on the trouble at mill too. Also, got three good mates who are city fans, my sis lives up in Manchester too. ;et's hope we can put in a good performance. Like last time, against Tottenham in the cup, all I ask for is a good performance and then we can hold our heads high...
Wise words from Zola, this guys seems to have the gift of the gab in a reasurring honest way. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20555626
Troy back in court. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/ne...ed_after_admitting_motoring_offences/ref=twt/ An odd case - why on earth did he not just produce the documents?
|Me too! gonna be a killer financially but these opportunities dont come very often , plus I can see my son and grandson
Maybe he has developed a phobia about going into police stations! I see that he has got into the championship team of the week.
Morning all, bright and sunny here if a little on the fresh side. One can tell that Christmas will soon be here as my e-mail box is full of adverts from companies that I have dealt with over the years. Castorama are one of the larger chains of DIY stores and they have sent through suggestions of items that would make good presents. For him there are lots of manly things like power drills, electric saws and planes. For her their suggestions include pedal bins, light fittings and paint scrapers. Off to Poitier to see what temptations might relieve my wallet of some cash this morning. Mme's list looks formidable.
