OFH,Little Mrs ONH who as you know is an expert in these matters tells me that the tax on red wine there next year will be a min of 30% for anyone not holding a French passport. Can send you some stunning Brit wines (some as strong as 4%)
If that is the case maybe I should apply for French nationality, I have lived here long enough. Very few nationals actually hold passports, they have their ID cards. It is only when they want to go somewhere exotic like USA that they have to get one.
Another thing the French and the Yanks have in common then OFH - in the past I have had to get a lot of septics to come over to work for me and I quickly learnt that the first thing to do was for them to get a passport! Vast majority did not have one
My book has arrived from Amazon. The Glint Of Silver. I have to finish Dark Skies by Arnaldur Indriðason and then I will read the new one.
We do not have identity cards, only passports. When the lögreglan want something we use our driving licence.

Morning all, think I will put the book on my wish list for Christmas. Just about time to down my coffee, then off for what I hope is my last hospital appointment. Just hope that the surgeon whose name is Leclerc does not offer me another operation on the number of loyalty points I have built up.
As I understand it an MP can be sacked if they go to prison but not otherwise - they cannot even resign as an MP in the ordinary fashion - they have to apply for a job that excludes them from being an MP - the traditional one is "taking the Chiltern Hundreds" - so says my memory of British Constitution from 40 odd years ago
Adam Thompson is back with us Barry, he's been on the bench lately good lucky Lloydy! Morning all, hope everyone is well! Thanks for the caramel latte Ak! I'm missing you all, my lappy is back tomorrow..woohoooo!
Now that would be something to boast about in the Nest...."When I played for the Hornets etc etc"...sadly my footballing career was approximately 16 levels lower and quite a few years previously...
I do believe that MPs can now simply "resign" - the appointment as Steward of the Chiltern Hundreds isn't necessary - but I may be wrong.
As anyone here actually heard this? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-radio-show-must-be-heard-to-be-believed.html
Labour MP resigns over expenses scandal Last updated Mon 5 Nov 2012 Politics Former Labour minister Denis MacShane has resigned after being suspended from the Commons for fiddling his expenses. Chancellor George Osborne has appointed Mr MacShane to the post of Steward and Bailiff of the Three Hundreds of Chiltern. The appointment is the technical procedure enabling MPs to resign their seat in the Commons. Labour leader Ed Miliband said he was "right" to step down from Parliament after being condemned for abusing expenses rules. Nope - still seems to be the way they do it
Nope. Have thought Colleymore's punditry during games is better than some, but not outtanding. However, the article reminds me that Mrs GG and I are sick to death of hearing the phrase 'You can have your say...' Bah!
Morning all.... very sorry not to get to Leeds game tomorrow... sorry not to meet up too... It is my stepfathers 94th Birthday in Lincs... Hope you have a good day and of course we win!
