Blimey AK, excelled yourself this morning - frothy coffee and frothy pictures! There are a number of jokes to be had regarding your picture, but I will refrain as this is a family pub!
Many thanks Sandy - Mrs W_Y's dairy intolerance has got better over the past few years, but she tends to stay on the Soya alternatives. But this looks interesting so I will get some at the week-end and see how she gets on. Again, many thanks - much appreciated and I hope your little boy is progressing well.
My grand daughter has a severe intolerance to all dairy products. She only has to touch a table that had some milk or cheese on it to start a reaction. When she lived in England they tested her at intervals, but did nothing except tell her to stay away from such things. Now she lives in France and has dinner with the other children at school, but they know the problem and prepare her food individually. To do this officially they have to have a few reams of paperwork, (it is France after all) and that can only be obtained after she has been tested over here. It has taken six months to get the test appointment, but it takes place next week. There have been a great many trials with people and their allergy problems, especially children. They have tried to build an immunity to nuts and dairy products by giving the sufferer minute amounts of the offending product, then over a period gradually increase the dosage. So far this approach has been successful in about 50/60% of cases, so we are hoping that the different approach to the problem here might help.
I have been reading the French news and discover that from 2014 VAT is to be increased from 19.6% to 20% However for essential goods it will be decreased from 5.5% to 5%. I wonder which tax rate applies to red wine?
If you look back at the teams put out by Accrington and AFC Wimbledon on the BBC website, you'll see that none of Whichelow, Mingoia or Bennett has played in any of their teams for the last month or so - none have even been on the bench. This means that they've been recalled (unlikely), returned due to a serious injury, got an injury that has kept them out but they'll be fit to play before the loan is due to expire, or simply not needed which is most likely for Dale Bennett with a change in manager, although the extension to his loan should be ending about now. Also, is Adam Thompson on loan anywhere? He was only at Wycombe for a month.
I am working at home today as waiting for a freezer to come. For the first time in a long time I am getting excited about tonight's game, not just about the game, but but about the good football I expect to listen to on the commentary. Times are changing.
Could it be that home grown will be 5% and imported 20%? Although any imported wine is likely to have come from varities of grape that were exported by the French to the countries concerned.
Back from the physio who had a go at breaking my foot off the end of my leg, not once but twice. A visit to the hospital for a check up Thursday morning, back to the physio in the evening, and with a bit of luck that will be it. One moment in August and weeks of getting over it. Oh well, that's life!

OFH - There have been VAT increases in a number of EU countries over the past few months as well a France - Spain & Holland have done it and Finland will as well at the end of December. I also heard on the radio the other day that a large hike in tax on beer is being planned in France!
Morning all - what a strange morning. Rather disappointed that we did not get 3 points last night, but offset by the filthy one's losing to Hereford! Very pleased that the American's have re-elected Obama, I was very afraid they would go for Romney - but this is offset by my total disbelief in the antics of my local MP. I have long given up on Nadine Dorries as an effective MP - I have asked for her support on a few occaisons and found her to be totally useless. But to leave her job and spend up to 1 month in Oz on a very crap TV programme beggers belief - In any other job she would be sacked for gross misconduct for not attending her place(s) of work. But it does raise a question - who is her employer that would make that decision? It cannot be the Tory party as they do not pay her salary...anyone know?
Good question... I suppose the party whips could discipline her and her local party could, ultimately, expel or disown her, but in the end she must be bullet proof until the next election if she can't be made to resign. She is paid by the tax-payer, and I'm not sure there any stipulations about how much an mP has to actually do. Are there any constitutional eperts out there?
Afternoon all Back from my 6-monthly visit to the dentist...she's lovely but the fees suggest she will shortly be appearing on the UK Rich List!
VASK here is 25.5%. We have 7% as well for books and magazines, restaurants and hotels, heating, and food. I would love 20% for my finance health.
As far as I can see MPs set their own level of pay after recommendations from the pay and expenses committee. A MP is elected to represent her constituents, but is not employed as such. Northern Irish MPs refused to go to Westminster, but were still able to claim expenses.
I'm feeling really nervous about my Maths GCSE tommorow, I hope i get an A*, anything else is a fail. Yay for the weekend!
