Thanks for that w-y. I have suggested it to mrs nz for our wedding anniversary, which is the following week. We shall see.

I'm home alone this evening after a hard week. It's great. I can play music that I can't usually play, very loud. Terry Riley's "A rainbow in curved air" is probably annoying the neighbors at the moment.

MrsNZ has gone off to do a design job somewhere in the country with the children. It's not often I get the place to myself.

As far as other topics on here go - you want bad drivers come to Christchurch. Apparently NZ has the highest use of seat belts in the developed world - and the lowest use of indicators. It is the only country in the world where you drive on the left unless you are going round a blind corner. Not that I am a great driver. Five years ago I drove off a cliff and dropped 10 -15 meters. I was lucky not to drop 200 meters. My only excuse is that I think a rock fell from above through my back window and startled me. The road was very narrow.

sorry for rambling. I,ve had a glass too many of a rather poor pinot noir.

Morning all, bright and sunny here, but first thing there was a autumnal freshness.

NZ, that is appalling. <yikes> I have heard of off road driving, but that is extreme. ;)

Need to restock the cellar today. Have a nasty feeling that the lucky Bordeaux will be required tomorrow. :(

Love the fact that instead of lucky pants you have a lucky Bordeaux! How very french of you, my fiancee would be happy with that (she's from the south of france).

    Bonne chance OFH!

Sæll öll I am very late toady. My management called one meeting and it went between kl.8.00 and now. We have to do training and then an examination on what we learned. The bad thing is we have to move our office and the training is on the same days.

    Morning all

I see in the Guardian BR is hinting that if decisions keep going against the divers in his team he may not discourage them from doing it...much as it goes against all his principles of course! Doesn't it just sum up the man?

Talking of off-road driving, the Jersey Rally is in a fortnight. One year I was doing the flag at the start of a stage (they do have the lights now) and had to stand on the grass bank rather than at the side of the road so that I didn't have the cars going over my feet!

Got a work do tonight with part of it in a casino - most of it is being paid for by an award our department won. Not sure how the organisers managed to get the powers that be to OK it - we're part of an American company so don't even get a summer ball as they don't want to pay for the staging of an event where employees are going to get drunk, but they're happy for us to use an award ($500, I think. Not sure what it converted to) for gambling!

Hi guys and gals, do any of you know the laws about loitering on a public footpath?? The path in question is a marked right of way but I have been told I cannot stand on it to watch the training. What can I do??

Nonsense - if it is a public footpath you can stand there as long as you like and watch the training as long as you like - but only, of course, if it is a public footpath as marked on an Ordnance Survey map. If it is what is called a "permissive path" then the owner of the land which the footpath crosses can (politely) ask you to move on - but only the owner or their representative - not someone who owns adjacent land.

BTW who is the person that has told you that you cannot stand there? Tell them, next time they try to move you on that you will return with a policeman who will, I'm sure, put the matter right.

This is the map issued by the council for 2012. The purple is a public footpath and the green is public bridleway. The training ground is the university college land in the SW corner which has a path (labled) and a bridleway running around the edge and a path right through the middle of it. I follow the green path and stick to it.

If it is marked as a bridleway then get a horse and look down on this Italian. ;)

It looks like you have an extract from the definitive map and providing it is shown on there as a bridleway or a public footpath you can do what you wish within reason as long as you do not create an obstruction.

Thats exactly what it is Frenchie. Well spotted. <ale> for you sir. I certainly dont cause an obstruction as a double pushchair can pass by with out issue as can two cyclists side by side.

I might have to print a copy of the map and show the suits. The players never question it and Zola and the coaches are keen to chat, so its always seemed strange that a select few questioned it.

<ale> for the others who have helped too.

Golf trolley suggests that he goes up there to hit a few balls around. From memory I can't think of too many good Italian golfers, so maybe he is worried that you are up there to pinch his balls.

I got the sense he did not want to get his smart shoes wet. Plus I must have been all of 150 meters away.

The golf buggy is one of several owned by the club that they use up there for various reasons.
