Yep the times are a moving on, legends pass on and we all get older. Gotto agree on the alcohol as a pain killer but the best one is definitely making love to the Mrs, I'm amazed that doctors haven't managed to isolate and synthesise whatever chemical it is the body emits at that point which even if you're crippled up in pain gives both total pain relief and freedom from any joint stiffness.

Oh and cardiff losing to local rivals is this going to be the perfect weekend, only needs city to stuff the scousers and we're there.... On the WFC "loan" players in I look at this transfer window as the application of the emergency response team applying the immediate first aid needed to get the team playing the way GZ wants without us meddling with relegation. We should start to see the transition into more signed players and more youthful development players in future windows when we have more time and the scouting network is brought into play. Looking at the takeover timing what else could have realistically been done in this window?

Morning all, sun is shining outside, but there is a fresh feel to the morning these days.

My district nurse came in to stick the needle in my arm and change the dressing. My wife had her first chance to assess the quality of the stitching and said it was very neat and tidy for a man's work. As there is a degree of swelling, I have been ordered to sit with my foot up and with an ice bag beneath the slot in the plaster. Thank heavens for remote TV controls.

Morning all from a blustery Gulf coast - looks like hurricane Isaac will just blow past us and the drive back to the airport should not be too bumpy. Republican party convention in Tampa has been delayed by 1 day - they are worried about the safety of the red-neck attendees and the 15,000 hacks covering the event!

Morning all from a very bright Paris:D the previous 2 mornings have been overcast but today it could be scorchio! The other half was called upon for babysitting duties at 0230 due to friends of ours rushing to the maternity wing as their baby decided to try and visit, I am awaiting news on the birth:cool:

Morning all from rural France. Bright and sunny here with a high of 30C forecast for this afternoon.

Beginning to understand more about problems facing people in wheelchairs. I do at least know that this enforced use of one will come to an end for me and need to start thinking about what I can do to keep a little muscle tone in the plastered leg. I believe that hopping up steps should be a new Olympic sport. ;)

For once there is a sensible discussion on the WO message boards about our attendance figures. The call is for some pay turnstiles to re-appear. People who have been supporting the team for years, but can only get to the ground from time to time now, find it difficult to get tickets. If you are in the UK for a short stay you need access to a computer and an ID number before you can get a ticket. There are a few games where for security reasons it would not be a good idea, but most could have a turn up and pay facility I would have thought.

Sæll öll. Cappuccino, coffee, tea donuts and fruit are on the bar.

Frothy cappuccinos for for al, HH, Leon and W_Y
Coffees for COYH, Frenchie, Kev rob theo and vic-rijrode
    Strong coffee for Sandy
    Espresso for SuffolkHorn
Strong black coffees for Bragi Norway and zen
Black coffee half hot half cold and no sugar for Charlie
Tea for BHD jsybarry jerzeypie Lloydinio NZ and BCFCRed
Hot chocolate with marshmallows for BBW
Tea with skimmed milk and no sugar for GG
    Caramel latte for Hornette

I am not sure where Yorkie is today so will make his drink if he appears.

Today is a bright as a cloudy day can be with 5C. KA lost to Þór in the local football bu 1:0 and there were 1.717 spectators. I think the result stops KA going to the top division and leaves Þór in the first place.

Still no news on the baby, wife returned at 0915 after dropping off their first born at summer school, mother and father at maternity hospital where earlier she was only 2cms dilated. Long way to go, at least the maternal granny is on the way from the UK to take over child care duties, even though child number one is a sweet pea;) it will allow my other time to relax!

Afternoon all, not a bad day today, just a bit too cloudy but the sun is trying to break through. :)

Thanks for the caramel latte Ak, much needed today...so much for bank holidays...some stupid driving instructor forgot about it and booked herself lessons for the day...duh!

Isn't that what the ticket office is for, or am i missing something?

2cm - 10cm can go very quickly, trust me..i speak from experience! lol

Morning all from a blustery Gulf coast. Isaac has moved into thr Gulf and is strengthening into a hurricane and is set to hit land at New Orleans - almost 7 years to the day that Katrina wrecked that city. Luckily it has passed us by and just a blustery day with a few showers - but still 84F.
OFH - H is right, as long as you have a membership card you can buy a ticket on the day at the ticket office. Problem seems to be that people turn up 15 mins before kick-off and there is always a long queue. If we have to buy extra tickets, we always get them very early and then go for a beer. Clubs do not have cash turnstiles anymore because of the issues with handling cash and security.

I'm finding this ticket sale information interesting so can someone explain it or tell me what I would have to do. If, for some reason such as a funeral, I come to the UK suddenly, would I not be able to buy a ticket because I don't have a membership card? Do you have to pay for these and do they just last a season?

NZ - it costs nothing to become a member and it never expires. You will get a plastic card with a chip in it that is essentially the same as a season ticket. When a member buys a ticket either online or at the ticket office the game is loaded onto the card and the seat allocated is either sent in the email or given as a ticket - all you need to do is swipe the card or ticket at the turnstile and it will open. It is exactly the same process for ST holders for cup games, I pay for my seat for a cup game online and it is loaded onto my card which I swipe at the turnstile and I sit in my normal seat. All you have to do is register as a member (I suppose they would send your card to NZ) and get the number - if you want a ticket at short notice just turn up at the ticket office and quote your number and you will get the ticket. There are no manned turnstiles at The Vic.
