Afternoon all - busy day in corporate madness. I am due to get to the 30 year mark next year (17 years with my previous company before we were sold (TUPE) and 13 in madness) - all we get now is a certificate. When I passed 25 years I got £500 of JLP vouchers, now it's a poxy certificate! - I will tell my boss to shove it..... Still, I am off tomorrow as it's Mrs W_Y's graduation ceremony in deepest darkest bandit central - going for lunch after in leafy Harpenden as I cannot be trusted to stay quiet in pubs in that place...
Our 'reward' for 5 years service is an extra 2 days Annual Leave - pleased to say I received that last November! Not sure I will be here to see 10!
Aussie unions, it would appear, must have more muscle than their British counterparts! Every block of ten years service with an employer entitles an employee to three months leave - which can be taken as and when wanted or paid out upon resignation. The unions were a bit cheeky in trying to make shorter periods of service 'transferrable' from one employer to another, but common sense prevailed. Another little 'hard fought' lurk they won for members was leave loading. When you go on annual leave over there, you get paid 17.5% more than when you're at work - crazy or what?
A medal for 16 years service and the clasp to go with it for 32 years, still got another 5 years to push to reach age 55 and in total 38 and a half years!!! And still not yet 50! I can only say that for today, as tomorrow it is the big 50
My English neighbour breeds Kunekune pigs, a small hairy breed from New Zealand. A few weeks back I spotted what I thought might be one of them, or a wild boar about 60 metres away from my house out in the lane. As it was dusk I couldn't be to sure, so I went over to tell them that one might have got out. They checked and found them all at home. The outcome is that they now have six piglets, totally different to any they had before. It looks as if the boar was attracted by the sow and had his wicked way with her. Not too sure what sort of meat they will eventually have.
hahahahaaahahah quality ! I liked that story. All is good in Mexico but the whole country has rain, this is being greeted with miraculous relief, some place around where I live, Queretaro, had been waiting for this for 3 years ! I've finally got a three day weekend coming up and the Mrs is off work too so dias felices ! Have a good weekend all !
When I used to manage the service teams in Italy & Spain, I discovered that they were paid for 13 months and received a "B" salary which was a bunch of tax free perks such as lunch vouchers - no wonder those countries are in their current position
Evening all Back from Scotland...a day touring from west to east (Stirling, Dunfermline, Anstruther) and a day in Glasgow with a tour of the College of Art and a visit to Hill House, both decorated and furnished by Rennie McIntosh. A good walk along Loch Lomond this morning. A pleasant trip with perhaps a little over-indulgence in the products of the local distillery.
wooohoooooo! You get there before me...just! lol..happy happy birthday for tomorrow Al (a glass for each decade! lol) Have a fantastic day!!!
evening all ..just back from the food tasting at the Runnymede Hotel where we're holding the bat mitzvah party...i'm stuffed and think i've just put on at least a stone! lol...delish...can't wait now...still loads to do though, but i'm getting there!
Morning all from a cloudy bandit country - thanks in advance for the frothy AK. Busy day ahead, but should have some fun!
Morning all, rather grey at the moment in rural France, similar to yesterday, but it blew over for a lovely afternoon and evening. Spent some time sat outside at a bar last night with half a dozen English people. Strange how you forget what pubs are like when you don't have one.
morning all Happy birthday Al, old man (i know there was a lot of bubbly on yesterday's post too but imho you can't have too much! lol) Happy to say, work has just been cancelled! I don't usually work Fridays and was bemoaning the fact that i'd have to, now i don't so all is good..just a shame i was awake at 6am and not able to enjoy the time lying in! Grrrr! Getting more Bat Mitzvah stuff done today...i just realised there's only 7 weeks to go...oh gawd! lol Laters taters
Morning All - Not been on too much recently as I've had a trapped nerve in my neck causing pain down my right arm and pins and needles in my fingers so been very painful to use mouse. Still gave me more time to read Theo's book. Very good Theo hurry with the next part please. Happy Birthday Al
I'm on it, Charlie...about 35,000 words done...just 65,000 or so to go! Not quite as bad as it sounds since some of it is editing what I've already written!
