Morning all from a dull West West London, but I think the forecast is for a nice sunny day - so hopefully we will see some sun!

Have to pop to the shops today as it's Mrs W_Y's birthday on Friday and need to get a card and a cake and a present!

I'm still laughing at the filth as they continue to complain about the goal that kept them down - Ha, ha

Thanks in advance for the frothy AK.

Morning all, it looks as if the weather is going to turn better today with the wind dropping and the cloud departing. ;)

The local paper down here produced a special supplement to celebrate the end of the football season and the local victory. There is a good article on the beeb about how it was done and maybe the model should give us hope.

The coffee will set me up for a day out and about. Might head south west towards Spain and see if there are any bargains to be had.<whistle>

Our roads are empty and our silly ones can still manage something interesting. The third accident of the day at this traffic light. No one was badly hurt.

My colleague who supports Norwich said that we'll get promoted but he did say it straight after he said to someone who supports West Ham that they'll be relegated so I think that it was a double wind-up.

The nutter is mayor of Reykjavík. He is Jón Gnarr of the Best Party or Besti flokkurinn. Go and look for him in Google.

I'm having trouble conjuring the image of Baz sporting a red, black and yellow mohawk haircut - and as for Wenger, Redknapp and Hughes attcking their bottoms with a sausage, I don't even want to go there. <laugh>

She will try AK - they were impressed with her being a supporter of a small club and even more impressed that she did not sit next to me!

As we are in a pub I thought that maybe it was time to introduce a new topic for conversation.

This afternoon I was travelling with Mme through the aptly named Clape region along the busy road from Beziers to Narbonne. In a ten mile stretch of the road we could not help but notice eleven ladies plying their trade for any male who wished to part with his money. Despite the clothing that was skimpy and designed to be noticeable, they were a pretty unattractive bunch.

Now it seems to me that if they have children to look after and cannot get any work that will earn them a euro or two, then maybe I should feel sorry for them standing around for hours on end and degrading themselves. However if they are doing it to continue fuelling a drug habit, then any sympathy I might feel goes out the window.

Can this still be called a profession as it once was?

I think it still is, rather than once was, called a profession - it's one of the oddities of the English language in that the term 'profession' has many meanings. It just seems odd that it can mean both an occupation and an occupation that requires extensive and specialised study. If I were a doctor or a lawyer, I'd be mightily miffed to be categorised along with street walkers - come to think of it, as a teacher, I am mightily miffed.... ;)

As to why they do it - that's anyone's guess really, and in my experience (not considerable, I hasten to add as my wife is in the room) they are not likely to divulge their reasons. Possibly Maslow was spot on when he identified 'sex' as one of the more basic needs that motivate human behaviours?

One thing I am sure of - if the women you mention are only earning a euro or two, you won't catch me succumbing to the allure of their charms. :)
