I was wondering what the odds were on a Chelski- Bayern final? I think everyone expected a Real - Barca final, oh well never mind!

I think home advantage in a final is a bit wrong.

In three years' time, when we're playing in the Champions' League after Dyche guides us to the Championship and then the Premier League title*, they're not going to consider hosting the final at Vicarage Road, are they? The only English club stadium they would look at is Old Trafford, which means that United would go into that tournament with an added incentive and advantage over us.

*it might take a little longer.

No - by that time we will have outgrown The Vic and will be playing our home games at Wembley whilst waiting for our new 60,000 seat stadium to be built in Radlett. ;)

Morning all from West West London - day started bright with some sun, but now the grey clouds are gathering and it looks like rain again.

Bayern vs Chelsea will be an interesting final that I might watch - I don't normally bother, but this looks a bit more interesting. Have to say the bayern keeper made some great saves, not the best of penalties, but he was top class.

Lat day today until Tuesday and looking forward to some good family fun time..

Very wet again...and the car won't start <grr> Mrs H left the lights on yesterday for a couple of hours apparently, but omitted to mention it. AA are on their way. Glad I'm not supposed to be somewhere else in a hurry.

Didn't cause Liverpool any problems when they beat Roma in the Stadio Olimpico - mind you, that was in 1978.

The clubs all entered the competition knowing the final is going to be played there. The Allianz Arena is a good big stadium and was chosen for this year's final in 2009. Would people complain about this if Bayern München were not in the final. If the two clubs were Barcelona and Real Madrid, the comment would be why send many thousands of Spanish people to Germany? Did Germany complain in 1966 about England being at home?

The real argument is why are Chelsea and Bayern München in this competition. It is the Champions League and Chelsea finished 2. last season and Bayern München in 3. in the Bundesliga. I wish to see champions playing so Breiðablik had a chance to play against Manchester United is place of starting four levels earlier and being beaten. I do not care if Newcastle United are in this competition because they finished fourth or Rayo Vallecano because they finished 5. and as Spain had two half finalists they get an extra team, this is not right.

Imagine a big team playing in Færeyjar, the local club would be rich for years. They have to play teams of San Marino or Andorra with never a chance of meeting the big teams, The system is wrong. We all know the tiny teams will get eliminated but they have no hope of something special.

Its a balance between large countries and small Ak and is all about money. For the top Icelandic side to play against the 4th best Engilsh side is still a total mismatch - the gates they would get at say Newcastle would still be far above their "normal" levels. You would deny countries with 60 million people more representation than one with a few million if that? It was once about Champions only but has progressed far beyond that.

I know the best of Ísland is not competitive with even the third best of Greece or Finnland but why enter a competition where the best to hope for is Rosenborg, Malmö or even a club from Ireland. The big teams will always be on top Manchester United gains as much money in a year as some countries. This is about letting the smaller teams, who are champions, have a chance. Not letting a team in because they are rich. The UEFA Cup was for the not quite as good and that is all about money as well. Every year we know who will qualify as they have all the money to start with.
Even cutting Europe in four so the little teams had a chance to encounter the big teams in their region would be better than preliminary rounds where one tiny team travels across europe to play another tiny team.

I must admit, I don't like the way 4th place qualifies for the "Champions League". Either change the way people qualify or change the name. If they want to keep the big clubs in, change the name. If they want it to be a true Champions League, maybe have the League Champions and the winners of the cups to qualify - you then wouldn't see teams putting out their reserve players! Unfortunately it is just another example of how much the importance of money has effected the game. So many teams would prefer to finish 4th than win either of the domestic trophies - money seems to be more important than prestige!

Reading other boards, I find it hilarious how they say Chelsea don't deserve to play CL football next season if the win the competition but finish 5th or 6th! That is ridiculous!

Personally I would like the big teams to start a European 'super' League, and start all over again with domestic and European football.... without Sky!

I would agree if we swapped the word progressed for moneygrabbing:) personally I think the champions league should be for champions only , I also think it should be knock out all the way ........you know like the old european cup:)
