Sorry for posting this vile in the Nest. It's about them. I'll put it in nsfw tags so that those who want to avoid it can do so more easily. [nsfw]I was looking around various sites trying to gauge the mood north of the border. On their official site, they chose this image to illustrate their 2-1 defeat to York. please log in to view this image Seriously, that is not a joke, that is genuinely what's up there. http://www.lutontown.co.uk/page/Home/0,,10372,00.html They also decided that yesterday, after their seventh straight game without a win, was the optimum time to start flogging season tickets. Even more interestingly, in the event that they do reach the playoffs, the closing date to get the cheapest price is before the semi-finals are over. http://www.lutontown.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10372~2706125,00.html http://www.footballconference.co.uk/playoffs.php?Dates It's my understanding that Three Counties Sport always puts up the L*t*n commentary to listen again, because there are no rights issues with Conference Clubs. So I went to 3CR's listen again service, and the schedule has mysteriously, retrospectively changed. http://www.bbc.co.uk/threecounties/programmes/schedules/2012/3/30 Even the L*t*n local rag has been forced to acknowledge that the fans aren't happy with manager Gary Brabin, but reading their match report you have to conclude that the writer thinks L*t*n were awesome and Brabin's side were unlucky and robbed by the referee. http://www.bedfordshire-news.co.uk/...ins-head-as-York-bag-late-winner-30032012.htm As for the national media, gawd bless 'em, they seem to think that L*t*n is now in Hertfordshire. Surprise surprise, the mistake does not portray Hertfordshire in a positive light (exact quote: An English Defence League supporter gestures during a rally in L*t*n, Hertfordshire, in 2011.") The national press, quite understandably, are not particularly interested in one team that won't be in the Football League next season beating another, but do point out that a significant section of the club's support will be in Denmark this weekend. www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/mar/25/english-defence-league-rally-denmark?newsfeed=true[/nsfw]
Sorry I did not reply to you yesterday Yorkie but was out all night. Yes I did post it on Thursday in with a lot of other garble. But yes after a lot of deliberation with my wife, calculator, heart & bottle I decided to reject the offer. as I stated at the time it had come just a couple of years too soon. I don't envy you the task but once you've decided it's like going to the dentist, you wonder what the fuss was about. I hope you can choose and not leave youself thinking what if as I have in the past. How long have you got to decide, I was told on 23rd and had till the 29th to make my mind up (must have been because of the financial year) Have a great holiday and come back both refreshed in mind & body and look forward either to a new period in your life or continuing the path you are on.
I have until May 4th and then they have an indepedent panel to decide..... as they are expecting a lot of people will apply to go. They may decide i am indispensable. As they cannot replace me..... Initial thoughts are i wont end up very much better off, dont look to be worse off....(just got to work out what one years' less accumulated earnings on my pension will be... with severence i get a good separate lump sum based on over 10 years there ..... wheareas with VER I get early pension plus the usual pension lump sum) BUT will have one year less of the sh@te which is the HE sector at this time. I have been in this job 20 years and it is now more like a supermarket than a place of learning. What's worse is most people are too stressed to even care any more... I was deffo planning to go back end of next year. We have ten days away to reflect on it.... and yes i will commit to either decision. I have already been on the calculator quite a few times Anyway have a good w/e.... and thanks for your support (everyone)
Morning All, bright and sunny here and an awful amount to try and get done before 4.00pm. Safe journey Yorkie, the autoroutes were quite busy yesterday with the Zone A children starting their Easter break. The country is divided up into three zones to help spread the holiday period around, but when you get to changeover weekends the traffic gets busy by our standards. Seeing the comments on the news and here about queues outside filling stations, there were similar ones yesterday outside garden centres. As we may have had our last frost, not certain, people are taking the chance to get their summer bedding plants in. I will give it until after our trip over to the UK before I put out anything that cannot withstand some cold nights.
Morning all - dull start to the day in Bandit Country. Did Tesco shop this morning as I could not be arsed last night - and guess who i saw queuing up buying a load of extra strong cider? One of those tramps who got nicked when the filth played York and threw coins at them....I was laughing my head off at him and he shouted across Tesco "and you can f*ck off scummer..." pure joy Off to Wembley in a bit for a long day of fun.....enjoy the day children
As mentioned before Yorkie have a good trip and remember sometimes money aint everything , listen to your heart ,do what you want to do and what feels right for you! Please avoid the money first trap that Leo and myself have fallen into ! try to minimise the amount of what ifs, also listen to what your familes viewpoint is . Enjoy your trip and remember the correct decision for you will be the one you make
Thanks everyone Much appreciated and plenty to think over.... Have a good easter.... we are just off now (P. S. Mlle yorkie recovering after coming in very late from an EOT outing..... carried n the house by her brother.... we found her resting on the stairs! She couldnt quite make the last step ! She has also christened her three week old new bed Two days of driving.... i hope she is not feeling quesy again!!!) and..... COYH!!!
Morning all A bit grey down here but at least the petrol queues have gone. Older daughter comes to stay tomorrow so a bit of tidying up and cooking this morning before following the game this afternoon. I see Blackpool/Southampton is on BBC2 later.
I saw the pub team lost to York. If Southport beat Hayes they might have to stay another year in the fifth division. My computer is being naughty again so I will swich off and return later.
Afternnon all, first time I have the laptop open today been sooooooooo busy in the garden. Now been fed and watered and it is almost game time COYH!!!
Afternoon PSH - big derby game up here next Saturday, Thistle vs Vale in the Highland League Cup. Wonder if AK could do a match thread
Come on the Jags! We are not doing so well in the League this season only third I doubt Ak has heard much of the HFL
Jags should win easily - Vale are a pale shadow of their former selves this season & very inconsistent. Their manager just resigned during the week too.
Why is it that Saints are awarded all those soft penalties? That was never a penalty but at least justice was done when the Blackpool keeper saved it.
