A good day today. We have sun and clouds and 9C.

It is easy to not like Manchester United because of the money they have and the success they have had but I wanted them to win last night as their success has been building for a long time and Manchester City have bought theirs.

Not forgetting those other great classics - Take the high road & Monarch of the Glen.

Mind you there is Taggart but with all the Murdahhs I'm surprised anybody is left in Glasgow

What about Spain? Do they not have a claim because of their Armada in 1588 left people behind.

morning all (just!). lots to do this lunchtime but i'll be in and out. I've suddenly realised it's 5 months til my daughter's bat mitzvah...i really need to get organising! 2 years ago i booked venue, DJ, photographer, video man and table decorator...but...i haven't sorted everything else! lol...so...i need to get invites sorted, coz they need to go out before the summer, and i don't have an invitation person confirmed yet, coz i think my normal one retired! Sorry, that was a little self indulgent rant! lol

    How's your day going? :)

H - there are loads on great Invite companies online. For Little Miss W_Y's 21st, Mrs W_Y got some really nice ones made online - company has a site you can put together your own design and they will then print them off and mail them in a couple of days. I will ask her the URL if you are interested? She's at Uni today, so fairly easy to get hold of.

    Other great programmes on SBC:

Sport - Old Firm games every other week, with Cowdenbeth vs Forar and Andy Murray's latest exploits the other weeks

Cooking - Gordon Ramsey will be doing his Hell's Kitchen live from Glasgow. But they will also be featuring a bright new young chef - Jimmy Oliver!

Invitation person?? Whatever happened to DIY? ;)

My day has been awful so far - I've had a lurgi for the last 2 weeks that has developed into a massive chest infection. Woke myself up with my coughing at 3 this morning and haven't been able to get back to sleep. Things could be worse though - have just heard from my brother in Sydney that his wife is currently having cancerous bits cut out.:(

Hope you soon feel better BB, go and sit outside in the sun and evaporate.

Trust that all goes well with SIL and they have caught things with time to spare.

oh BB, i'm so sorry about all your ills, i hope you improve soon, and that now that the bits are being cut out, that will be the end of the bad bits for your SIL :(

Thanks w_y...i just managed to get hold of my invite lady, thankfully she hasn't retired, and still wants to do business with me, despite all the aggravation i caused last time by ordering less than i needed! i'm meeting with her on sunday, between lessons..i fear the organisation for this particular 'do' will all be done..between lessons..gawd! Thanks though :)

DIY BB?? i save that for IKEA furniture, decorating and easy electricals! lol

Afternoon all, been very busy so far out in the garden before 9am first cut of the grass this year it would have been done earlier but as I was away it was left to its own devices;) Then cut the front lawn and weeded the garden as well, 2 hours hard work later it is done;)
Then I had someone from TaylorWimpey round to look at some damp which has appeared in the window of the main bathroom, It is not as if the bathroom actually gets used as we have an ensuite which does me fine. Mrs PSH occasionally has a bath when she come over as she doesn't have a bath in her apartment in Paris but other than that I go in there once a week to make sure everything is ok! So he came out and now I have to arrange to have workmen in the house to have a look and do the repairs. Which is easier said than done when your a shift worker and your work is 30 miles from home, it is not as if I can pop home and let them in<laugh> Anyway that is the way it is;) After that I took the garden cuttings and some other stuff from the garage to the tip, sorry recycling centre as they like to be called;)

Now intend to chill for a short while before going food shopping!

When I first started in the Job we had a 3 shift system which mean't we did 3 weeks nights straight off with your weekly leaves taken in a rota. So you could work 2 nights then have 2 days off then work 10 nights with no leave then 2 days off then 5 nights Your last night would be start 10pm on Sunday night finish 6.00am Monday morning then back to work 14.00 the same day and work to 22.00. (Quick change over) God knows who dreamt these shifts up.

I don't miss nights so I wish you luck these next 4 days.

We don't have a set shift system, I have been on a system which was 2 days/2 nights then 4 off, you get used to it and your bodyclock accepts it but where I work now it is done as the shift co-ord sees fit<yikes> No one likes the way it is done but there is no easy way in covering the shifts. Everyone has leave to take, courses to go and as there is only 2 people on shift you cannot keep the same people together! It really messes up your body clock this week it is one dayshift then 4 nights, then I have 4 days off then 3 days and then 3 nights, 5 off<yikes> Not good but hey-ho at least it is a job, only just over 5 years to do and hopefully will be on the move in a couple of years for my last tour of duty! Anyway hopefully I shall be going on to a dayshift come the summer, fingers crossed;)

 No - Brett Pitman started at Bournemouth, Peter Vincenti Jr (his Dad is the manager of the island team) now at Aldershot started at Stevenage (if he didn't, he has definitely played for them) and Daryl Clare who I think has now retired had Boston as one of his clubs.

Ak - the only way anyone would qualify to play for Spain is under the grandparents rule - there's more likely to be people representing Portugal and Poland than Spain.
