    Is that the one described?

I'm the opposite... I'm ok with motorway driving but I don't like town driving, especially not in Watford!

Lol, well i guess it helps i drive in Cambridge often and learned there. Its often said to be one of the worst places, other than london, to drive. The cyclists have a death wish and buses think they own the place!!

Morning all - a very foggy start to the day, but a little milder at +2C in West West London. Looks like it will be a long day in Dubai and little chance of being saved by some rain!

The Nottingham Forest game is not cancelled after all. The snow could stop it though.

Morning all. Nice cuppa, AK, thanks.

Haven't been on at all lately- still listening in regularly though and enjoying everyones' company. You keep me in touch.

I started a course of steroids four weeks ago. It's a 3 month trial, reducing from a massive dose and to be assessed mid-March. I have a feeling I'll be kept on a maintenance dose after that, because it has been successful in raising my energy levels, if not seeming to do anything to improve my neuropathy. So I don't sleep half as much - can stay awake through the afternoons and get some things done. I'm also feel much more positive about life in general, learning to adapt to disability. I have a few nice projects on hand, one a recording/arranging thing which should result in a 'Radio Ballad' style audio extravaganza, and the other is to clear out my violin repair workshop and totally rearrange it so that I can work in there in my wheelchair. Big clearance sale of stock, and building a website to advertise same.

Anyhow, live football seems to be edging into the realms of the possible. I met an old Hornet friend at a gig back in January- used to bump into him whenever I went in the Upper Rous. He's promised to help get me to a game some time. (Haven't forgotten W-Y's kind offer either).
Also had a visit from another friend lately, he used to watch the 'Orns in the 80's/90's before family reduced him to going local at Rushden and Diamonds and now the Dons. He says he'll take me to the Dons. Hmmm. Well, I have been there (pre-season friendly against them 4 years or so ago) and it would be SO easy for me. It's 15 minutes down the road from me, the car park is right outside the turnstiles, and the entrances on one side bring you straight into the concourse at the back of the lower tier, very spacious. Best of all, apparently the top row of seats all the way round ground is arranged alternately 2 fixed seats / 2 wheelchair spaces, and is made extra wide for access. How good is that?

So it may be the Dons, but at least I'd be able to sniff the burgers and hear the crowd, and feel involved with some footy again. I've been amused how often friends who don't understand football loyalty have said to me since Franchise FC came up to theses parts 'oh, I suppose you'll be supporting the Dons now?'. Errr- no. You just don't get it, do you?

    Have a good day, peeps.

GG looking as if life is starting to improve for you, which must be a good thing.

Do you actually build violins? That is a skilled job.

Hey GG, that is good news, quite made my morning. <ok>

Sun blazing down out of a cloudless blue sky is making the countryside look quite superb, but it is still very cold at -7C. The first bit of traffic has been through, a tractor, but all of the school buses are cancelled. Kids very happy.

Motorway driving in the UK is a doddle, only frustrating at times due to inconsiderate slow drivers. Driving in towns here is also simple. I love driving in other countries Italy being superb as the police expect speed and Germany on the Autbahn you actually need to switch your brain on as even at over a 100mph you have cars closing on you at 50mph over your speed but all drivers are considerate which makes it a pleasure. Challenging are te Arabian countries, Cairo is a mare and Tripoli not far behind. Anyone who gets scared on a British motorway shouldn't be driving on them, they need further training as these are the simplest and safest of roads...

I have made 2 violins, but I wouldn't call myself a maker. It takes so long to make an instrument (300-400 hours) that the financial return isn't viable unless you can get a name for yourself as a maker and charge appropriately. The only way to get a name for yourself as a maker is to make lots of instruments- so I decided not to pursue that! I do repairs- lots for schools, and for folky fiddlers, plus a few orchestral players. I'm self-taught. Haven't been doing it since my illness and what I laughingly call my business is under wraps. I now just want to re-configure my workshop so that I can get some jobs done in there, but I don't think I'll be going back into it fully unless I make a recovery. I won't be working on 'cellos any more either- too big!

Good on you GG keep up the recovery. It must be wonderful to be able to make or repair an instrument that can make beautiful music.

If cellos are to big I take it a double bass doesn't stand a chance.<whistle>
