BHD You must have warm and dry air moving around and inside the iPod, to take any water away. When you take the item out of the heat of the airing cupboard it must be cooled slowly to stop condensing inside the case and lengthening your problem.
Thanks AK. I will keep that in mind. I had not thought of afterwards, i was just hoping to leave it over night till tomorrow (20hrs) and then hopefully i am as lucky as mum was with her phone.
aw, bummer ..won't be long til you're together again though, will it? Oh dear! After my latest troubles with my new phone, i can completely sympathise! Good luck! Ah, that is, indeed, a great trick, and works with most things true enough, i'm always googling those things, they're amazing. There's always something somewhere with good advice!
So, morning/afternoon all! It's been a stressy couple of days! While i was clearing up from the party before work yesterday, and rushing to get out, i dropped my brand new phone, and smashed the screen. Panicked at first, until i realised that for the first time ever, i'd taken out the insurance that comes with it...i'm a sucker! So, i phoned '3', my network, and gave them the details, only to be told that the insurance doesn't kick in til January 15th, and that i'm not covered. I went a little mental, coz what's the point in getting a new phone and not being able to insure it for a month, but after going through a gazillion automated systems, i still couldn't talk to the right person. I called back later, and finally spoke to someone who was almost helpful, understood my plight, and agreed something should be done about it. I did stress that i had 5 '3' phones in my house, that i'd been with '3' for donkeys years, and that as a long standing customer i expected to receive a new phone, as it was their fault i wasn't insured for a month! The kind lady agreed with me, and said she'd call back today with news. Naturally, i missed her call! So, i tried to call back, listening to the automated system, and holding for ages, (and btw, as mentioned yesterday, the only song they're playing on hold atm is EJ's 'Step into Christmas', and hearing it that many times i'm ready to throw it through a window!). Anyway, i digress. I speak to a man who then puts me through to the insurance company who know nothing about me, because i'm not insured for a month and they put me back to the beginning again! i go through the automated system, and Elton John and finally speak to a very helpful man...who agreed with me, and said he'd try and arrange a new phone and will get back to me in 72 hours. It feels like i've spent at least 72 hours trying to talk to the right person! So, things are looking up, including my blood pressure, but it seems i maybe getting a replacement phone. i'm not counting chickens just yet though. I realise that dropping a 4 day old phone isn't ideal, and they're probably not very happy about replacing it...but...i couldn't spend 2 years with a phone with a smashed screen...although as w_y said, i'd already started to get quotes for screen replacement...but even so! <deepbreath> So, how's your day going?!
Dan, I think the best 2 options are let it dry naturally for at least 24 hours before even attempting to turn it on/charge it. The other is to completely submerge it in rice, which absorbs all the moisture - again, leave for a good amount of time, I'd leave it for 24 hours, to be sure! If neither work, then probably is time to treat yourself
Sat in le Clerc so that I can get on the internet. Still no phone line, could be 4-5 days yet. Told them a week a go that there was a fault on the line, chased them up today, different person, knows nothing about it, will get the line tested. That was what they said last time. Hope all is well, might have to come shopping with a computer more often.
H, she comes over on Friday for Christmas then we drive back on the 27th then I return on the 2nd lots of travelling over the festid period
Poor you I remember when I had just met Mrs N and we took out new phone contracts with 3! To cut a long story short , it involved us taking them to small claims court and winning! I would never touch them again after that , but my parents have 3 phones now ,coz its the only network they get a reception on!! A lot of these phone companies aftersales careleaves a lot to be desired ! Did the people you spoke with speak english H? as I seem to remember having great difficulty in understanding 3`s employees !! I think then they operated out of a shed in Bangladesh.
Poor you OFH no comms at xmas not good , I do hope they give you a sizeable rebate for your inconvience!
H - I have been with 3 with Little Miss W_Y's phone for a few years and they are usually very good - after all she has had 3 iPhones lost/stolen in 18 months! Hope it works out as it can be a very frustrating time calling Call Centres! It does seem to be a techy advice line this afternoon - perhaps a new thread called "HOW" should be started
That was an ace programme W-y my experiences with 3 were like 10 yrs ago , would hope they have improved!, Maybe it all your claims that is making it hard for H
I never usually have a problem with them, to be honest. I've been with them since they started, and i've always had good service...but when it gets a bit difficult, it can be very frustrating!
