With the news that if the ground is really poor at Ascot next week there is no plan B, how many of the forum members who were at York are hioping Frankel doesn't run so they can say they saw his last ever race?

I'll claim first spot <laugh>

I guess it would vindicate those people who said Champions Day is too late in the year and is likely to get soft ground ..................... having said that, it's a bloody miracle it wasn't soft for the Juddmonte, given the weather in the UK this summer

Starkey <laugh> <laugh> ffs man don't get me started on that pleb. He looked stunned when all 4 of us replied at the same time <rofl>

I had a beer with des on Friday and he was still creased about it <laugh>He's going to Singapore in November because one of his mates has a runner in a big race there (all will be revealed nearer the time) and i just know that story is going to do the rounds of the race course!

<laugh> - nice one. That will be some experience <ok>. Yeah it has to.

Will have to make a track again soon. Was a class day at York

Let's go to the national hunt at york - there's a man in a pub there who thinks that Synchronised is the greatest Gold cup winner ever because he beat the best 3 mile chaser of all time - Midnight Chase <ok>

If they could switch the meeting to the real HQ (Chelt) then I would be happy. Otherwise, frankly I couldn't give a damn.

As I will not be at Ascot, York will have been the last time I saw him, whether it is his last race or not. I would not get pleasure in seeing the horse denied the opportunity to finish in a blaze of glory in the Champion Stakes. On the ratings Frankel is ten pounds better than last year’s winner, Cirrus Des Aigles, who will not be inconvenienced by bottomless ground.

I do agree with the sentiment that Champions Day is too late in the year and the risk of soft ground is going to be a problem every year. It should be in September, where the old QEII meeting used to be. They will never have a sell-out again as horses like Frankel do not come along every couple of seasons.

I'll be gutted if he doesn't run. Then again I do have tickets. That said even if I wasn't going I'd want to see him take on Cirrus Des Aigles. He's a horse I really rate over 10f and this will be tougher than the challenge he faced at York. There he took on Farhh and SNA over 10f. Well Cirrus Des Aigles beat SNA over his preferred 12f and beat Nathaniel and SYT in last season's champion, both of whom have beaten Farhh this season. I can't wait.
