I have a little thing on my phone that tells me how far I have walked in the day, the number of steps taken and the calories burnt. Yesterday I managed 4.9 miles, mainly grass cutting, and refreshed on water. Well there was one can of Ruddles County. So far since we have had the hot weather I have lost 3/4 stone, and just need to get rid of another 1/2 stone to get back to my better weight. I was stuck for a couple of months on the 1/2 stone loss, but got it moving again by cutting down on sugarary things, and with the end of season reducing the Bordeaux. Still some way to go, but feeling better for it and the knees are not under the same pressure.
That's why I am continuing on the bike, as I cannot do any weights because of the elbow. I not only see the difference I can feel the difference, big push for my summer holidays at the end of September, we are looking at Cape Verde for the first time
that's great M Frenchie! I have the same on my ****meter which usually i wear every day, but the battery has gone!
i've got a big push now for the next 4 weeks...before the bat mitzvah! I need to lose half a stone in that time..i think i can do it..i hope i can! 10lbs would be unrealistic but fab! lol Oh, and if you count steps, here's a good way to keep track and feel good about yourself: www.walkertracker.com I've done about 39m steps since i started!
I have been put onto a new app for my Ipod touch, it is called 'my fitness pal' and it is a food and exercise diary and it works out the calories for you
I'm keeping up with my physio and I think it's having an effect. And I'm hoping that the quacks have discovered why I am so easily fatigued. I asked the haematologist if it was still after-effects of chemo (20 months down the line) he said no- but let's check vitamin D levels. Behold, I am vitamin D deficient. You can only take in so much through diet, the rest has to come from direct sunlight, and I've hardly been out for two years Now on supplments to try to build up the level. But best of all- I now have wheels! A Berlingo with hand controls and a hoist for my wheelchair/ mobility scooter. I can even open and close the tailgate from a key fob or a switch on the dash. My return to the Vic grows nearer by the day. You Ornnsss!!!
I hear what you're saying BB if only! GG, hopefully the supplements will help you and as for the wheels, good for you and like you say your return to the Vic is getting closer U'Orns
i've got one called Cardio trainer, it does pretty much the same thing...i love it...but i don't use it enough (...for 'don't use it enough' read 'don't exercise enough'! ) I'm doing the bike as of tomorrow (now i've got it sorted! lol)
Do you know that you can get 'Spinning DVD's' one of my colleagues has one, if you would like I could try and get a copy for you so you can listen to an instructor beasting you whilst you cycle. He uses his with a turbo trainer, pretty much like you
oh wow! That'd be great...i'm not quite at that stage yet..i haven't cycled since i was 18 so it might take a while to get that good, but then...yep! That'd be fab! Thanks Al

Well another hour on the exercise bike yesterday afternoon followed by another hour this morning, just loving the momentum of doing it even though thi morning was a struggle to begin with but once I got going it was all good Just need to get my elbow sorted out so Ican do other things as well I wonder what the physio will do to me next week, more acupunture let's wait and see shall we
You're doing great Al! I did 25 mins on the bike yesterday, and 10 mins on the treadmill, with weights. i'm contemplating getting on the bike again today but...i'm shattered after my early morning so might just leave it til tomorrow. 4 times a week isn't bad, right? ...
