funny story - my son used to have a dairy allergy and we went to one of his friend's birthday parties which was held in a pub with a play area. He was probably about 9 at the time. When the ice cream came round, he turned to the waitress and asked "do you have any kosher ice cream?"...it's what we always called it...he didn't even know the phrase 'non-dairy'...she just smiled and shook her head in a 'i haven't got a clue what you're talking about little boy, now don't bother me again' kind of way and wandered inanely off!
I need to motivate myself, I need a kick in the @rse to get me going trouble is when the weather is cr@p and you work shifts finding the right time to exercise and eating properly and at a reasonable time is not easy! I like it when everything is planned and you know what your doing and when your doing it but unfortunately my roster is only done on a month to month basis, so I cannot plan my life, be able to attend regular exercise classes. Hopefully that will change if I get the new job which is Mon-Fri 8-5, so I can arrange my life. Not much to ask, is it?
i know the feeling Al, but honestly, once you start, if you're head is in the right place, you can do it, whatever the hurdles. I'm succeeding at the moment, just because i'm in the right frame of mind. I haven't been exercising though so i need to get started with that, to give the weight loss a bit of a boost, it's slowed down considerably lately and that's just because i'm not motivated to get off my arse either lol. I'm going to try and start again with the exercise tomorrow...if you want to start with me, we can keep each other motivated..and you know my hours are all over the place, self inflicted i know, but at least we can both have stupid hours and keep exercising lol
I find that motivating myself to go to the gym during my final year at uni is something that's virtually impossible alone. What works well is finding someone else to go with, that way if you don't go, you'll feel as if you're letting the other person down. Has been working for me well so far this year (averaging gym sessions 4 times a week). Also signed up to boxing lessons and the teacher threatens to go for head shots if we miss them (jokingly, but still would not want to get on his bad side )
ha! Well done you! 4 times a week is great! ...i loved boxing, it was such fun, and such a great work out, blinkin' hard work...always wanted to be the instructor so i could just stand there with thick gloves on while someone else did all the work lol
I have a physio appointment tomorrow and might be getting acupuncture on my knees, so it might be the ideal opportunity to push the exercise button There is a pilates class tomorrow night at the dance studio on my estate, the only thing is it is at the end of a 11 hour shift getting up at 0530 doesn't help either but the idea that there might be some fit ladies there might be the motivation I need
When I had it on my hip, I could not see the needles as I was laying on my sidebut my knees there is no way of avoiding it. I am not squeamish but to see your knees looking like hedgehogs I will try and be a brave little soldier, I wonder if I can get a lollipop if I am a good boy
Well no acupuncture today as the physio was awaiting a delivery of the needles maybe next week Just got in from my first Pilates class, which was enjoyable, not many in the class and no yummy mummies but no wrinkly crinklies either Will be going again
glad it went well, and at least, with the absence of yummy mummies you can concentrate on the task in hand
Well the physio actually took delivery of his acupuncture needles and I ended up with 6 in and around my right knee It hasn't seemed to have done anything yet and to be honest my knee has had more pain since then. It could be all the walking I undertook whilst in Paris, but we shall see what happens overnight. I also have been told to get an ultrasound on my ankle either that or a MRI, let's see what the Doc says tomorrow, if I can get an appointment of course
Fingers crossed for you Al. I went to the gym for the first time in 4 months last night. Was quite pleased as I managed to complete my usual workout, but was shattered at the end of it.
Well done Sandy, i keep meaning to start mine, to get my plateau'd weight loss on the move again, but somehow, i just can't seem to find the time..amazing what excuses i can come up with!
